Hi guys

I have fitted my cruise stalk today and lower column trim and that was nice and easy. I have come round to coding it and as I have *cough* *cough* copy I can't do some of it. I can enable it in steering wheel module but I can't do the abs brakes and steering angle sensor bit, so anyone in the lincs area fancy doing me a favour for some cash or beer tokens?

There maybe noone in the area. What other areas are you likely to be in over next month or so? May give people more opportunity to help you out

I'm in Nottingham I have never coded one but I'm sure it's easy enough
 
Have you got full legit copy of vcds? And CAN ready?

Well there are 4 parts to programming as far as I can see

1. Enable cruise in steering wheel bit (16)
2. Login into brakes module (03)
3. Steering wheel angle sensor
4. Code the engine for cruise (01)

So you think I don't have to do part 2?
 
Nope, you don't need to code the abs brakes module, I fitted CC about a month ago on my B7 and didn't need to.
 
The problem I have is my vcds is 11.11.3 and when I load up the individual bits the login button is greyed out!!!

silly question time - What is the "Steering Angle Sensor (G85) Calibration" and why is it needed in this install of cruise?
 
Right I don't think I can complete. Even though you say I don't have to do the 03 abs brakes I must have to do something as its not working and I have now also activated cruise on 01 engine. However the reason I can't access 03 abs brakes to code is because my login - 11 button is greyed out. Security access? Basic settings?

I know most of that will make no sense, but the experts on here will hopefully understand.

If you have activated the Cruise in 16-Steering Wheel and 01-Engine then that should be enough for the B7.

Now you need to do some fault finding.

Go back into 01-Engine and go to 08-Measuring Blocks and go to group 006.

From this group you'll see a binary output something like this '000000' (can't remember exactly).

Now have a play with the Cruise Control stalk, do the binary values change? If so, the coding is completely fine. Dip the clutch, does a single 0 value change to 1? If not, then you need to replace your clutch switch.

If there are no changed values when playing the with the cruise stalk then there is a problem with the coding.



The steering angle calibration is done when you start driving. On the B7's this is done without loggin into the 03-ABS controller. Simple as full lock left, full lock right, back to middle, drive in straight line and the traction control light should go off (meaning the steering angle calibration is complete).
 
Well I have put laptop away now, but I'm worried now cos I have definitely activated it in steering wheel and engine.

Right done that and the only thing that doesn't happen is when I press the clutch? (no values change) What is a clutch switch? Easy to install? Have you got a part no?

Good work mate. Clutch switch is a very common fault on the B7 and its easy to replace.

1) Remove drivers side fuse box cover
2) Remove driver side under dash panel (3x 8mm bolts) unplugging the OBD port and footwell lights (if fitted)
3) Look near the clutch pedal and you'll see a device that looks like this. The plunger from the switch extends as the clutch is pressed, so you should be able to find it easily
4) Unplug the electrical connector from the clutch switch
5) Twist 45 degrees (will only go one way)
6) Remove and replace and reverse all above. There is no correct way to replace like there is with a brake switch, as long as it clicks in place and the plunger extends with the clutch pedal etc.

Part number for the clutch switch is 8E0 927 189 B - £13.74

Did you clear the Steering Angle Sensor error too? You must have if you don't have any lights on the dash?

Is that part no for both the b6 and b7 because on eBay that part no lists switches for the b6.
 
Yup, fitted to loads of models.

The part number actually supercedes to 7H0 927 189, so you could also search for that part too. (they're both the same part, doesn't matter which one you get).
 
Got my switch, will fit it tonight. Will then do test again. After this i assume aslong as the value changes im good to go?
 
Yeah. When you fitted it it should be good to go.

If it still doesn't work, check the measuring block again and see if the value changes, if it doesn't then its a electrical fault to the switch (which I've came across once before)
 
Switch took 5 minutes to fit and I now have cruise. Really appreciate everyone's help.
