Hi all, brought my audi s3 2007 middle of this week loving it to be honest. 57,000miles all looks good :)
First of all, servicing its due a service well computer says next year but ill be looking to do it in the next few months when it hits 60,000, which im aware is cambelt which looking at the audi fixed price is 400odd quid doesnt seem to bad.
What i would like to know, not knowing much about the 2.0t engine as of yet, what else should be done i read somewhere that 60,000 water pump should be changed on the safe side and the cam follower? also have a full service so i know whats what. I dont know if this is a major fault but other day i changed up into 3rd and seemed to have no power, took my foot off and back on and was fine, again knowing nothing about this engine doesnt help matters (having tdis before hand)

Also be looking into a little bit of tuning after i know the cars sorted and in good condition
cheers Dave

When you say no power, did the revs maintain but the car didn't go as such?

yer sorry revs still climbed but no real boost

Slipping clutch would be my 1st call, common with S3's.

sorry might be me not explaining myself propley, i can go through the revs 1st 2nd but when i put it in 3rd (not saying itll do it anyother gear just 3rd for me so far) the revs climb but slowely (as if the turbo didnt kick in) i take my foot off the accelerater and back on then the revs climb as normal. The car has a dump value fitted, dont know which type etc so want to get the back looked over and given a health check

Check for boost leaks. Ie all hoses from turbo to inlet side.

yer i would of gone for intercooler pipes etc etc but its only done it twice now,, running fine at the moment.

Is there anything else i need to know about these engines??? dump valves, tuning (already read some info on here), maintence etc, any info would be great.

thread without pics is useless, hopefully the old owner was in here and i can get some history on it :)

does the number plate ring any bells on here?? its been played with abit, leds number plate, dont think the dv is standard. so would like to find the old owner

hi, just another shout out if anyone knows the old owner :) thanks

hi had the car few weeks now and the modding bug is coming back :/ Got a revo dealer not to far from me so it'll be revo software. Dont want to go down the line of turbos etc so stage 2+ will be the goal. how much am i looking to get it to stage 2+ , intake, exhaust, forge dv, get cam follower done (as i dont know when it was done last) is there anything else that needs looking at???

2nd brakes, they dnt seem the very sharp if you get what i mean?? just looking at my options now
bremo pads? of start with something simple first?? the pedel feels fine not spongy just soft ?:s

thanks for any reply

newtown area, the old owner has alright put some sort of dv on there, again i dont know which and dont know about finding out?? or even where it is haha hmm noob or? lol

You'd be looking at around £2k for that lot but don't forget the clutch will pack in at that sort of torque,so you would need to budget on something like the Sachs organic if you want to keep the DMF,or the Loba SMF kit.

The brakes are pretty soggy and a decent upgrade will come to around £1.5k,and the suspension should also be sorted with a decent coilover setup such as the Bilstein or kW or you end up with something that's ok in a straight line but won't corner or stop.

If you feel up to it,maybe have a trawl through my build thread and it should give you an idea of everything from stock to Stg 4 with all of the work and possible problems along the way.

Thanks for the reply. ill be going to the dealer end of the month mates getting his evo cammed so go for a chat, might get the intake, cam follower done and dv as i havent got a clue what mine is on mine atm. I was hoping the previous owner was a member on here but know one seems to regonise the number plate. so i could see what he had done so far i can see hes done led drl, led number plate lights. Ill have a read through your thread tonight when i get some time, cheers

Have a look under the bonnet mate, the DV sits right at the front of the engine near the front panel. If it says forge on the top then youll know which one it is, or if its plain black looking it may be the Rev D diverter valve if the previous owner said it had been uprated.

Ok cheers mate , car was brought from a garage so,,, very little knowledge on car but has 2 year warranty
I'll have alook now, I'm used to oil burners not fancy petrol guzzlers, would like to know bit more about what should be cheaked need go know what not to do that sort of thing cheers

Its plain black at the top, didnt know the standard ones make noise thou, like when you change gear low down the revs.

Well car will be going in for abit of work within the next month at indigo gt, cam follower, division dv and revo induction heard this is the best :) cars going back to the garage for warrenty work as the headlight washer will come out and spray but wont retract. So its getting replaced for free always a bonus :)

But i have a problem vibration under hard braking, starts ok then vibrates and gets worse ????/
brakes sqeek when going low speeds when i tab the brakes it stops ?
also while i was poking around when you push down on the suspension it sqeeks so im guessing bushes but then why would it vibrate whiile braking? and sqeeking at low speeds soo any help would be good.
I did mention it to the service department and they said the brake pads are hard ?? ha so i kicked up a fuss and there goonna look at it when they do the they replace the wah

problems getting worse had major vibrations today under braking even the little touch i get vibrations when the brakes cooled down it didnt vibrate, soo first thoughts worped disk, not sticking caliper :/ going back today for the washer jet to be replaced there going to loook at is ill keep you posted

Hi, I have a 2007 S3 as well, found out it was running a stage 1 remap so had a new clutch fitted (Sachs performance) and also I fitted a new DV valve (Forge) as it was loosing boost.

The car has had a few little problems but the major one was the brake servo. £714 to replace but will be covered a bit by the warranty.

Currently got the dash in for leather retrim/additions to the triangle grab handles under the stereo and all arm rests :)

ITG and PCV delete kit installed last week but needs a cold air feed :)

Enjoy

You should pop down to Steve Gittins in hay on wye he knows his stuff about audis and really talks you through what's wrong and why it's happened and also he's a forge and milltek dealer did both of my S3's so he should know his stuff and now currently looking at getting my TTRS mapped by him. Already got him to fit some milltek secondary bie pass pipes. Top notch service.

right oo cheers might do that nice to know there garages round here thats worth going to and not just clever farmers lol ive looked on here and they dont recon the forge is worth the extra cash then standard ? been laying off the brakes due the issue so ...

If you're referring to the DV there is no advantage to be gained from the Forge model as opposed to an OEM Rev D valve. The OEM will be spot on for 2+ and costs around £55 compared to over twice that for the Forge

Yer i was on about the dv, sorry. Ill be looking to change my front disks and pads, would like to go abit better then standard but dont want to go wild,,brakes can get hot round the welsh b roads so need to handle abit of abuse. Brake squeel is doing my head in now, and what i thought was air being pushed out the damper over bumps under closer inpection sounds more of another squeek? lol Would that be a bush? or something else thats simple? Ill have to get it on a ramp and have a look :/

If the brakes are feeling a bit inadequate,it's seriously not worth wasting money on pads and so on.

Drop a line to N8 or DaveB1970 and talk about a decent brake kit.
They can provide a good upgrade at reasonable costs that will work way better.

Yer but dont really want to be spending 1000sss on a big brake kit, just want aomething thatll work when there hot lol

This could be nothing or something serious,,,, when i looked at the audi before buying the top of the oil cap was missing, still sealed but the top bit the handle? as such. they replaced it but then few weeks went to cheak the oil missing again :s so rang them up said it was missing they replaced it again. Now driving home from the gym gave the car bit of beans heard a ting ting as the top of the oil filler cap fell down the engine bay, looked in the mirror to see it roll away which i later picked up. Is it getting blown off? theres no oil in the engine bay? the base is still in place is there a pressure release on the oil filler cap? or is it something simple??/ car is under warrenty so cost isnt an issue

The top of my placcy oil cap keeps coming loose as well, just a crap 2 piece design I think. ShaunS3 is running a group buy on some nice Porsche alloy oil and water caps, just the ticket for that problem.
