boosting up to 18psi

hi ive got a 2001 quattro 180, fitted turbo gauge today an cars boosting up to 18 psi and then settles to about 15psi, it has been mapped is the car boosting to high? and what sorta power would it be producing now?

My S3 boosts upto a maximum of 21psi so 18psi sounds about right on a K03s. Boost is not everything! Could be 200-210 I guess but wants to go on a rolling road to be sure.

I'd say it's been mapped.

Ooo really , what would you say would be good boost pressure ? An would it be worth adjusting the actuator?

18psi-20psi sounds right to me.

sensible boost will depend on (a) the mapper, and (b) the intercooling ability

eg: polo Gti I did on Friday... 1bar of boost only on its k03s on stock smic, 65'c intake temps..

just reading the thread here and mines is boosting at 26psi. would this just be a remap thats done this ? its an 2001 S3. sorry for hijacking the thread.

Well 7years on meltdown then. As this is when it was done. Wonder if its a different turbo then. Ill need to investigate.

Owch... uber spike of boost

Not ideal!

gets things too hot too soon..... It will make more power from less boost... as it will reward for running cooler cyl temps

my 2cs worth mines a tqs and mine makes 18psi settles to 13psi
