Hi all.
I am some how fascinated by the gear change burp
coming from tfsi cars with the DSG box.
Whats making this and can/will this be enhanced after a remap?

Will a new exhaust do anything with this?

Have seen the new S3 and A-class AMG on YouTube and its just pure audio porn.

I am planing to opgrade the turbo to a K04 and the kit is without turbo nous suppressor!
Anyone know something about this?
Thanks for any feedback.

Thanks

Milltek TBE resonated slightly enhanced the gear change `parp` on my S3 DSG.

cheers

DSG cuts the ignition momentarily during a gear change. It is very very slight. The DSG/Stronic is arguably the best box in the world, and changes gear in less than 7ms. The only way the engine power can be cut for such a short duration is with an ignition cut/******.

If you leave it a touch longer, this is what you get:

Think that's something i definitely want, but not as often as that. just occasionally.

Hi all.
Thanks for replying.
I do like the flames. But I think for a trackday map and not for streets as the cops will hunt you down.

@Rick: how is you sw at normal driving. Does is stil shooting flames?
If I understand you correctly. The burp is from engine ignition cutoff/******. Is this basically a stock flat shift system on the DSG cars?
You say it can be extended in time, dose the longer cutoff decreas the performance or is it nOt notable?

Thanks for the info

if you think those flames are bad try driving something with launch control, anti lag, flat shift, traction control (all doing igntion cut) and plenty of fuel on overrun lol

Paul - any chance you have a video of the parp with the Milltek? Also when the Milltek is installed, where does the small butterfly valve go that is at the rear of the OEM exhaust? Thanks.

I'm working on a flatshift implementation for DSG, but it's on hold due to other projects. In reality, you're not going to improve on the standard system for daily use. I will probably end up doing a switchable map that is more aggressive than standard. As standard the boost request is dropped during gear change but it's only slight.

Rick

I recently added an evoms induction kit to my a3 quattro s tronic and now it farts when changing gear. It is fairly subtle at the moment but i have just ordered a milltek cat back to go on in a couple of weeks, hopefully it will get even better
