Missing in Action: Outside Temperature Display

Hi,

I'm pretty certain I should have the outside temperature displayed on my A3, but perhaps someone can confirm.

The model is A3 SE 1.8 2001.

I have no button under my right hand stalk, however, I do know that the previous owner replaced the stalk.

On the right hand dash display I get the miles completed and total mileage display, on the left of the dash I get the time and date.
I get nothing in the middle when driving.

I have vcds, but can't find anything in there about it, then again I can't find nothing on ross-tech either.

Any ideas? should I have temp reading?

Between the speedometer and rev counter dials, do you have a nearly full height black LED screen or is it only half height (a bit taller than the odometer with total miles)?

Hi,

Well now I think you're gonna tell me I can't have it because the dash is too old.
It seems half of the rectangle is blanked out, like there is no screen in it.

photo what photo?
theres a button on the bottom of the drivers side stalk that turns off the display.
push the button and it comes back
