Hi,

I'm pretty new to this site and am just in the process of ordering a new A3 SB S line with a few extras.... I just cant decide on the colour! Am hoping that someone can help me...? I darent ask my husband another car question as he may actually kill me (its taken me months to decide on the basic spec)!

I've narrowed my choices to either Amalfi White, Glacier White, Brilliant Red or Misano Red. I am definitely ordering the pano sunroof and privacy glass...... so I suppose my question is - which of these colours would look the best with these extras? I'd like the solid colours as this helps keep the price down but Im worried I'll regret not having glacier or misano..... I'm also really worried that the misano may be 'orangey' - I really hate orange looking red cars....!

Any help much appreciated, all of the photos I've seen on here look amazing - which really doesnt help me make a decision hehe

Many thanks

:)!

If your going for the pano roof I'd defo go glacier white! I saw it in the flesh and just had to have it!!!!!!

We've just bought a Brilliant Red A5 cab but would rather have had it in Misano Red as it seems to glisten more if you know what I mean. The Brilliant Red one came up at the right time and at the right price and we love it all the same.

Having owned Brilliant Red in the past, I would defo go for the metallic or pearl paint as you will always regret not ordering it.Out of your chosen colours I would go Misano as the car looks stunning in that colour.

If you were going black I'd say stick with the Brilliant, but if you're going for the brighter colours then the upgrade for both of those is definitely worth it.

I had a long term courtesy car in Misano and TBH it did have an orange hue. I still liked the colour though and would have it over Brilliant Red. The paint has a lovely 'pop' to it on sunny days.

Amalfi is creamier than Glacier so doesn't look quite as clean and fresh - more noticeable when parked next to a pure white car.

Glacier White would have my vote, particularly with the pano roof and privacy glass. The darker shades in the options would contrast well with the paint.

My rank order would be:
Glacier White
Misano Red
Brilliant Red
Amalfi White

It's got to be Glacier with the pano roof and privacy glass. I wish I'd have gone for it!

Glacier white for me (I'm biased though as ordered glacier white with privacy glass and added pano roof after seeing pics on here)

Colour choice is tough - I went for Daytona in the end as is only available on s line ( and does look pretty good IMHO) but really wanted white, IBIS white to be precise, but it is not an option.

For me Glacier is too white and Amalfi too cream..........

I also would choose glaciar white for the pano sunroof. I wouldn't say that it won't look good with Amalfi white, but certainly glaciar white offers the best contrast.

But I recently found this photo of red and also looks very very good! Between misano red or brillant red, I would choose brillant red as IMO there's no big difference. Not worth to pay over 500. If sometimes it's difficult to distinguish brillant red or misano red for us, owners and future owners of A3, who have read the entire forum and dozens of reviews and videos... then what do you think about the rest of the people? They will just tell it's red. I would save that extra money, or invest it in other extras.

Might not be able to distinguish in the photos, but I guess in the flesh it would be quite obvious as Misano Red (and Phantom Black for that matter) would be pearlescent and shimmery etc. whereas Brilliant Red (and Black) would be solid. I think the metallic/pearlescent options are worth the extra and add extra depth to the finish.

I found this a while back, cant remember the source

Ist choice: Misano Red
2nd choice: Brilliant Red

Red never goes out of fashion and on (the occasional) sunny days looks fantastic. Although I love white it's inevitable that it will eventually go the same way as silver...

Mark, just to throw you further; does this suit Daytona or not?

I was a little unconvinced on Daytona when I ordered mine, could not get Ibis White which i really wanted (see previous post) but have seen a 3 door s line in Daytona on way home from work on a couple of days in the last week and now I am completly convinced.

If that person is on here - car seen in Ware hertfordshire around 5pm, I would not mind a closer look at some time.

Check out my pics of my Daytona A3 that I'm hoping to collect tomorrow. I was a little unsure until I saw the photos!

They're in the pictures section!

Thanks, have seen them, and very nice she looks. I want mimne now......Still waiting for a build week and ordered nearly 4 weeks ago but expecting early September.

My View:

1. Daytona (s-line exclusive)
2. Misano

All down to personal choice, don't be influenced by others, follow your heart. How ispirational. haha. I personally don't like the Amalfi White, looks cheap and doesn't show off the tornado lines and other finer details as good as the darker colours. Both white options also don't go as well with the s-line alloys. I think white would be more suited to a black edition model further down the line.

;)

I asked this question on colours a while back to my friends, guess what they said? They all said different things.

At the end of the day as others have said, pick what "you" like. Of course do your research.

Good luck, i think no matter what you pick it will look nice. :)

Colour choice is such a personal thing. Mind you, when you're down to two colours, I guess the forum is the equivalent to tossing a coin, but with a little opinion thrown into the mix!

There isn't a bad colour in the range though, so I doubt there'll be any disappointment.

Oh, yes. I just hope the Black Edition is a year off at least so I don't have to change so early!

Done it! Finally ordered and went for the misano red! Thanks for your help everyone.....now for the long wait....... Xx
