Hello

My girlfriend is with T-Mobile, took out a 24 month contract with them in 2011.

She phoned them up today to see when her contract finished (thinking it was end of this month (April)).
She was told it finished at the end of March 2013 and was automatically renewed. So she then asked if she could cancel it but they said she was in another 24 month contract with them when it renewed and if she wanted to cancel the contract she would have to pay ridiculous money to end it (2 years worth with interest)

Anyone else had the problem of automatic renewal and managed to get out of it?
I would have thought that she would have to physically sign another contract if it was for 24 months again.

Cheers

The contract ends after 24 months, unless you sign another one thats bs.
Send them a recorded delivery letter saying you are giving them a months notice of ending it,I had exactly the same with o2 two months ago.

is that what u did? sent a letter and that was it done with?
Yes,I realised I had overdone the contract so I gave them written notice of a month then stopped the direct debit after the last payment was took.
They are unscrupulous.

Without consent they can't renew, you simple roll on month by month.

Did they say what package you took on the renewal? Was there a handset taken?

The easiest way to cancel and contract that has run it's term is to ask for a PAC code, and then move it on to either a new contract or a pay and go sim. When the number ports the contract is cancelled. There is no need to write Letters etc

All so I would never just send a letter and cancel the direct debit by doing that you can potentially cause more issues down the line say they charge you for calls used etc you may not know until a collection letter arrives.

I'm at 10 years in working for an mobile operator so have seen it all lol
