Guys

I have seen the post on Audi warranty around corrosion, just wondered if any b7 owners have got the same issues as me. My front two wings are going all around the arch and my rear arches have started to go just near where the rear bumper starts. Do I have a case to go to my local Audi dealer even though I haven't had car from new?

Cheers
Simon

Yes and no.....welcome to the Rust club Mate. My March 2005 bus started to bubble up at the rears just at the wheel arch / bumper and under the front arches and back hatch. I filed a claim late last year with a helpful Swedish VAG dealer and the nice Audi Sweden offered to repair all the rust if I contributed 600 quid! I declined their offer but should probably in hindsight had it done. The front wings are easily replaced so I don't really care about them...the back arches will be pricey! Am holding out to buy some spare door skins and maybe a new hatch and then getting it all done in a oner! Recently the back door is falling apart rustwise..the bubbling at the wheel arch is increased but still not bad enough for me to start panicking. The wheel arches to be done right will be a welding in a new rear wing job to totally fix it....and that will be very pricey up here.
If you can find a helpful VAG dealer then you should at least get them to check it out and file a claim.

Good luck,
MM

I'm hoping my local Audi will help as I know most of them quite well. My front wings are loads worse than my rear arches but christ the car is a 2007 car and shouldn't have rust at all.

I thought the 2007's onwards were better than the early 2005's / 2006. You see a lot of rust under the arches on most years up here but they don't come through. Check your rear hatch door up at the high brake light and above the reg plate upper section. Mine is really bad. Hopefully as your's is a 2007 you should have some comeback...I am a bit more philosophical about the whole rust issue now. Every car I have owned up here rusts to some degree due to the extreme cold, ice, snow and salt they through down on the roads up here in the winter. At least my car colour choice matches the rusty bits! Joking aside, I just thought that the Audis didn't have a reputation for body rust..... unfortunately with my bus I have been proved very wrong.

Keep the forum informed how you get on.

Are both of you sure neither car has been damage repaired at anytime ?

Paul, I can't be 100%, you never can but there's no reported damage history or any comments in my car's full VAG history or car's national registery. Up here, the early B7's have a bad rep' for corrosion in the same said areas.

The rust is caused by moisture trapped by dirt acting as a poultice against the metal. Scrubbing under the wheel arches evey now and again solves this problem. If it's started to go, paint some rust remedy on it.

I know of a B6 Avant with the problems described in this thread but I have personally never heard of this issue being on the B7 models until now............................
