Jardo's 'Journey to quattro' - My Story...

Wow the car is quick jardo! And don't worry, my whole car is covered in **** grit. I had a copper tell me my plates needed cleaning, I asked for £10 because its the council's fault its dirty, always gritting. He replied "well it keeps your car on the road and not skidding everywhere" to which I replied, "no it doesn't, my Quattro does that for me!" He wasn't impressed and I didn't get my tenner :( But nice to see your getting rods! I will soon once I get my house... seems so long!

I hate gritters, plastering the side of my car in a chemically imbalanced crystalized paint missile. Bah!
I don't know if I can be bothered to fit rods, no K03s car has ever bent a rod, so it feels unnecessary but I know I should do it.

and new rims? You getting rid of the s4's?

I've sourced a set of 18" BBS LM reps which I will run for a while. I recently "sold" my S4 wheels to another member but got let down by the other end of the deal who was supposed to be selling me Prawns old 18's. So it never happened :(

The plan with these is to spray them a black textured finish, like plastidip with bits in it.

I might as well let the cat out of the bag regarding future plans; Phil and I are seriously contemplating buying a Mk2 Golf and dissecting the slayer. Whilst the theoretical side of it seems like a great idea the enormity of the task is setting in. So watch this space, it all depends how much I get paid in April haha.

Should look sweet on the new wheels, look forward to it. Shame about the others though.

MkII would be a wicked project, but I reckon for your daily hack stick with the Audi. That said, I'm a sucker for new shiny things and know full well that you're the same, so it doesn't really matter what anyone says :p

Don't think how big the task is. Just do it Jardiller! Lol.

Do it J-rod! I'd love to do a mk2 conversion but her inside made it very clear its a bad idea....

Them wheels could force you into doing a mk2 mate by the looks off wellys pics.

Nearly bought a mint mk2 20vt last year and they do feel a lovley raw car to drive and boy will it shift with your lump.

Mk2 golf and escort xr3i have a certain raw feel to them, almost like its just you, steering wheel, car and the road , that's it! No sensors or abs or ESP ect.... Feels good to drive one.
I'm not privileged enough to have driven a mk2 with a turbo lump in :(

lol and you think the way you use your launch controll wont do this to? this was done at 3000rpm!

lmao @ burns! its more like a air-cooled motor

My launch control doesn't rape cylinder pressures like your WOT box did.

lol ok Mr Jardo!
as you were captain

Mine is just a baby soft cut like hitting the rev limiter, WOT box is a hard cut rapey rapey setup.

Mine doesn't make any boost on launch control, it is more of a launch aid like in a F1 car.

oooooo ok i understand.... but you got no lift shift to?
also you running high torque so thats also a strong factor. just do rods and dont be a chop! you cant keep the crown for strongest k03 if you dont mod lol

Thanks to my many VAG friends an LCR quick rack was sourced today.

An order was placed for an SFS Man-Tip and a Forge actuator had a cheeky bid.

Todays modification will be seen by most as a little bit Max Power, but it means a lot to me.

A very good friend of mine gave me a Momo gear knob for my 17th birthday, he bought it for his E30 M3 when it was new. So it has proper vintage.

I had this on my Mk2 GTI, my Saabs, my 205 GTI, my Rover. So it has proper history.

It spent a bit of time on Prawns car as well, I think it was on his when he crashed it at the ring.

That's cool mate. I have a Lotus keyring that came with my first mini and have had it on my all my car keys ever since. It's banged up but I wouldn't drive a car without it. Wish I'd taken my John Player Special gearknob off my mk2 Escort as I would have fit that to every car since.

Sorry guys, a week with no updates is a rare thing for me.

Very little has happened though, mainly the addition of some parts to fit!

My LCR steering rack is here, thanks Luke. I am just waiting on me getting back to Plymouth so that Phil and I can fit the rack. I have also purchased some new bushes. I got some poly bush top mounts, rear axle bushes, steering rack poly bush, subframe bushes and am on the hunt for a gearbox. I have made a few enquiries about K04 set ups as well.

I have driven the car almost 1000 miles this week, back to Basingstoke and to drop my woman at the airport. It has been spot on really, feeling a little down on power though, but it is feeling great for having a long run.

The brakes have also run up the list a little higher, all of the short journeys I have been doing have scuffed up the discs and they won't work at all now. So I need to upgrade in one way or another.

I am going to chop it into the l local Eastern Europeans tomorrow for a valet, because I can't be bothered to clean it myself haha

My little niece gave me a hand to load everything in the car today and she spent ages trying to clean the wheels with a cheese string because she has seen my using one of my magic erasers/sponges on it haha!

So yeah, I am having a bit of a holiday with my family and I will be back on line with some MAJOR updates in the next couple of weeks

Last day at home before I go back to the **** and the weather is perfect, no wind, shade on the drive, neighbours out, rotary time!

Brilliant Black at its most brilliant.

I went over the leathers with a heat gun and shrunk them down so they are neater, pulled them out and fully wet vac and steam cleaned the carpets, did all the annoying cleaning things you never really bother to do.

Just desperate to get some 18's and a new front bumper on it.

One last update before the almost certain ban hammer hits.

Poly top mounts are here, poly steering rack mount, new track rods, LCR steering rack, new subframe bushes, new rear beam bushes, new maf, new plugs, new grill, new lower grill and a freshly painted bumper this week.

Should have it sorted for another 120k :)

Rack cleaned up alright, good stuff. Should be sweet once it's all on, front end is gonna feel so much more responsive!

Nice bits. Should be a nice little refresh. Has it had new wishbone bushes recently?

Yeah, we polybushed the wishbones last month. It made a nice improvement, hopefully this will further enhance that.

My last A3 had a TT rack and I loved it, I can't wait to get the ESP/TCS switched off for good.
