So after a lot of searching I finally found a clean, low mileage Sportback for decent money shortly before Christmas.

I'm from Belfast so traveled over to Birmingham to see the car do the deal if it was mint.
Thankfully the fella selling it had been completely honest with me and the car was immaculate with full service history and all the receipts :D

Drove it from Birmingham to Cairnryan (managed an unbelievable 38mpg!) and got the boat home.

Since then I've just been enjoying driving it and getting used to the normal 25 - 30 mpg i can get from it lol.

And more recently I have started to modify it a bit ;)

Anyway here's a few pics to keep you entertained :)

And because I can't leave anything alone I fitted a new PCV valve and revision D diverter valve and a big silly Neuspeed P-Flo Intake :D

I also have a TTS engine cover to go on too so the messy engine is all hidden :)

More pics when it's actually clean. Hope you all like it. I love it!

Cheers,

Aaron (Noodle)

Amazing mate, looks great. What's the revised diverter etc? I have the same car but dsg.

Thanks mate. Few more plans for it happening soon. Main thing it needs is a proper clean :p

The Diverter valve is prone to failure on these TFSI engines and mine was knackered so I fitted the newer Revision D Diverter Valve. Got it from TPS.

I am considering getting a new intake and looking at the p-flo, is it very noisy? do you notice it on part throttle and does it sounds good?!!

Chris

Hey Chris. Only seeing your question now....yes the P-Flo is loud....not really loud on part throttle but it does have that blow off noise every time you change gear. Having said that though I think it sounds great!

Ok so finally got round to taking a few pics of the A3 in its current guise.....hope you like...

More to come in the wheels department but that all depends on how trial fitting goes later this week! :p

Looks lovely mate, you had it lowered on spring or coilies?

Coilovers mate. BC Racing coilovers to be exact....handles so well and with the camber set up it turns in grips like a track car! :D

Also quite comfy too with dampening set a bit softer :)

So got a Revo remap on the car last night. Stage1 just but my god does it feel a lot quicker :D Would recommend it to anyone!

Wow I haven't updated this in a long time!!! Well after the map I just enjoyed the car until the start of this year, and then decided to make some big changes for this show season.

After the local council decided to litter the roads around my house with speed ramps coilovers weren't really practical anymore. So I went for a full AirLift Performance kit with the camber top mounts and adjustable damping shocks. I choose V2 management to keep things in order and a 444 compressor to fill the tank.

My friends and I fitted the whole kit, made a false floor trimmed in grey faux alcantara (to hide the compressor and valve block) and got an aluminium strut brace made up to mount the tank onto. I then fitted some Corbeau Club Sport front seats and an old set of Sabelt harnesses to complete the 'aired out race car' look for a laugh.

I also changed the wheels shortly before all this to a set of BBS CK ii Air 2 piece splits measuring 18 x 9j all round and painted the centres Daytona Grey with red centre caps.

And that completes the look for this year :D

Have since wrapped the harnesses round the tank just because it looks better. :p

Plans for next year are to put the leather back in (putting the Corbeau seats in something more appropriate) and get a little paint work done to tidy it up. :D

Looks good,

BUT would them harnesses hold in an accident?

Looks good,

BUT would them harnesses hold in an accident?

Thanks mate. But no. No it definitely would not hold in an accident.

Had them in just for looks to be honest and didn't wear them whilst driving (retained the normal seat belt for this).

If I was using them properly I'd have to make up some plates welded to the floor for the lower straps and a proper bolt in harness bar for the over shoulder ones. I didn't fancy cutting holes in plastics or carpets considering its only for show so I just set them in and made them look nice ;)

Gets some interesting questions from a lot of people but once they realised I'm not completely retarded they're usually alright with it.

Put the leather seats back in last week anyway as I've grown bored of the "aired out race car" theme so the bucket seats and harnesses will find a home in something more suitable (drift/rally car) and I plan on making the A3 a little bit cleaner (sorting out all the little things like paintwork and few other odd jobs :icon thumright:

Yeah when I had harnesses I had to have them bolted properly too, and obviously the question was out of concern for yourself tbh

Hello again. Just a wee update this time.

Changed the interior back to standard and sold the Corbeau seats as I've decided to go for a more OEM+ style this year.

Got the car back from the bodyshop after getting the full front end resprayed to get rid of some stonechips and she's looking better than ever. Got a wee bit of laquer flake sorted on the back bumper whilst it was there and also got my Votex skirts sprayed at the same time :D

Also started collecting a few parts to fit for the new show season this year too ;)

I'll try and keep the updates more regular this time so hopefully I'll have a photo of all these parts fitted soon.

Good morning!

Small update today. I got the facelift LED MY09 tail lights fitted at the weekend.

Handy enough to fit and really smarten up the back end of the A3.

All I had to do was get some wiring loom adapters from Ebay, wire the inner lamps to the number plate lights and then code them in using VCDS. Took about a couple of hours to fit because of the wind and rain on Saturday but not a hard job and well worth doing :D

Hopefully the next update will be skirts and steering wheel fitted.

Thanks dude. Think I'm just gunna stick with the CK's again this year. Love the contrast of the Daytona Grey centres against the polished lips and they are super rare :D

Fair play, they sit really well in the arches, you use any spacers or just good fit?

Thank you @enc
Hopefully I'll get the skirts fitted some night this week. Tried them on yesterday but it's gunna be a bit of nightmare to do by myself so I need to organise the lads to give me a hand

Yeeeoooooooooo! :D

Got the skirts fitted last night with the help of my dad. Really really pleased with them and how they complete the car. S-line model A3s really should have come with these from the factory.

As anyone who has fitted these will know you are supposed to glue these on, have one screw on the leading edge holding it on to the splash guard and a couple brackets glued underneath to the sill.

Me and dad didn't think this was sturdy enough and as a result made some brackets for the front of the skirts to screw it up into the chassis and then put some screws up through the two brackets underneath. Finally a couple of screws on the rear edge of the skirt hold it to the rear splash guard.

I'll grab some better photos at the weekend for you all but the screws, new brackets and glue combine to make a very strong pair of skirts that won't be flying off half way up the motorway

Next week I might have a splitter to fit but it's a bit of an experiment and I'm not sure if it will fit exactly. Watch this space and wish me luck :icon thumright:

Hello again.

Haven't managed to get any more detailed pics of the skirts as I've been flat out prepping the car for Dubshed this weekend here in Belfast, but here's one of me half way through cleaning :D

So in other news I fitted my flat bottom steering wheel last night! So happy with it and it feels far nicer to drive with.

Wrapped the silver trim in the new 5D Carbon vinyl but I'm not too sure on it. Opinions?

Also the splitter still hasn't arrived even though I paid for express delivery last week and the show is on this Saturday and Sunday! :banghead:

Gave my calipers a fresh lick of paint last night as a final touch up for the show tomorrow.

Ignore the dirt, it'll be getting a good wash and wax this evening ;)

Well the car looked great at the weekend! So pleased with it inside the main hall at Dubshed.
Just need to do something fresh to the interior now and I'll be happy for a while :D

So I won these on Ebay on Monday night. Excited is an understatement!

They will be here next Friday and if by some sheer luck they bolt straight in I will have them fitted for the Lets Stance show over here.

If not I will have to order some Recaro rails for the A3 8P chassis but it's no biggy. Just can't wait to get them in! :D

Your car looks amazing mate. I have a 2 litre TFSI A3 sport back aswell and would love to have it sat like yours on air. How big are those speedine alloys? They look bigger than 18 inch.

Those front seats will look good. You keeping them red or will you get them retrimmed?

Kind words mate, thank you! :D

The Speedlines are just the standard 18 x 7.5 but the BBS CKs are 18 x 9

The front seats will be staying red. They match the car really well so in time I'll get another rear bench and have it re-trimmed the same colour.

At the minute though funds are running low as the car needs a bit of routine maintenance so that's coming first :)
