Hi guys.
Sorry I know there are several threads relevant to this but I'd like to know if anyone has any top tips for doing the interior trim, my silver trim is scratched and makes the interior look tatty

Also can anyone recommend a carbon wrap? I'd rather buy a more expensive wrap if it means it makes things easier and I won't end up stamping on the trim in anger !
 
I also am thinking of doing this Tuffy as many parts of my silver interior trim are scratched excessively and it annoys me every time I look at them. Am thinking of doing the long door trims x 4, around gear stick and front ashtray, then dashboard areas.

I believe most of the trim pieces should just pop out with a bit of force from knife/blade?

Can't find the link of this forum but here's another for the trim removal....probably get into trouble for this....Ooops won't do it again! hahaha

You could buy a cheaper wrap just to practice. The cheaper ones are supposed to be more difficult to work with, so if you can crack it with a cheap one you should be good with a better wrap. :)

The door trims pop off really easy too. Stick a knife in the hinge side, twist slightly and it'll start to come off. Think there's 4 pop clips, and the last one must slide off away from the hinge. Once you've done you'll realise how easy the door trims are to remove, takes seconds when you know how.

Give the wrapping a try though, nothing to lose other than a few quid.

Nip down your local vehicle graphics shop, get yourself a cheap offcut, that's what I did. But it's honestly quite easy.
 
Most carbon wrap vinyl nowhere days Is bubble free, basically has small channels in glue to help stop bubbles, 3M is most expensive but companies like metalmark, hexis, ritarama, total wrap all are as good, most have same look too.

Nothing!....you can remove it if you balls it up....right, I will get some this week and have a go too!

Roughly what size roll would i need to wrap the interior trim?????.....including the rear door trims
 
IIRC I got 1.3x1m which was enough to do the inside, the grille surround and boot chrome strip
 
I recently used some non 3m stuff for my roof and with better results in all honesty, took me a few hours to do myself but it layed on like a dream. I got it from UD so not sure what make it was but it wasn't 3m :)
 
I have a Mate working in the next village in a graphics Company....they had every colour in stock except black carbon fiber.....they got a quote from an ex employee who does cars....wait for it... 65 quid for 1.3m x 1m must have thought I had just sailed up Lake Malaren in a banana boat......right ebay, next! ***....never easy in Swedenshire!

Right just a wee update from me . Bought some nice Scotchprint Matt Black carbon"fibber from" a local sign shop....Took me about 2 - 3 hours "off and on" to do all the door trims and ash tray, gear stick surround. A lot easier than I thought, some of the corners are a *******o but the beauty of doing the trim is that the surround parts of the car hides a multitude of sins!....I can see why it could become very addictive....I actually just started on the back of my phone! hahaha
Will do the dash are over the weekend....Cheers A

It is quite addictive, I finally finished the inners of the door handles and the trigger surrounds on the rear doors today. All doors panels are now complete and I'm doing no more wrapping now!!!

Hahahaha How did you do the inner handle area...did you take them off or do a template?

I took the door cards off then removed and split the handles, not as easy as the dash bits to wrap but I managed fine.

I like to think of myself as a recovering addict:banghead:

Young, living at home with parents and large disposable income led to this. One bit of carbon just led to another, if I'd bought it all at once I'd probably have saved £500 in postage costs alone!!

3m wraps never going to be the same but for me and my bank balance that's a good thing!!!

What a lovely bike......well when you live in IKEA land and have twelve year old twins going on 17...your biking days are most definitely f@cked! Use to have a huge love for fast motorcycles , but had a bad habit of falling off them at very high speeds! The driving here is shocking and anyone driving a bike in Sweden is either mad as f@ck or just completely stupid!

Sorry am a bit blonde this morning.....what exact tool do I need to remove the a4b7 dash trim? Is it a ratchet with a long reach extension with metric socket? What size bolts are holding it on? Sorry, I have a limited tool kit and want to makes sure I have the right kit before attempting this job.

Help me out would ya!

Its a standard screwdriver handle and shaft with a socket attachment on the end, basically a screwdriver you can push a socket on to. But yes, you could do it with a ratchet and extension bar.
I think it was 8mm socket i used but cant be 100% sure, i'll go outside a check for you mate

May also be worth getting a pair of long nose pliers to grab hold of the two nuts above the head unit so you dont drop them. I didnt but you just need a steady hand

Many thanks job done! Big improvement on the silver...you don't get a migraine when it's a sunny day forstarters!...That wee 8mm job I bought for 3 quid did the trick. Thanks for all the feedback and support.
