Can someone please explain to me why Audi did not change the fog light globes to give off a better glow...it annoys me that the Leds look so amazing and then the fogs spoil it...they should be illuminating the same colour...Has anyone changed their fog lights globes?

Agreed they do look a bit yellow in comparison to the xenons. However, as they should only be on in reduced visibility then technically no one would ever see it long enough to notice! ;)

Maybe it's deliberate - the yellowy light could be considered better in the fog? As mjcourtney says, they're only for use in reduced visibility, so I dont see it as a major issue. Please dont get me started on people that use front fogs at any other time!! ;-)

Haha I've started flashing people who have their fogs on when it's not foggy...I find myself constantly flashing!

I agree with the first poster here. ****** me off every time I see them...which is every I time I lock/unlock the car as I have the coming/leaving home option. However one pleasant surprise from the xenon package is that I have headlamp washers ....unexpectedly.

Still not convinced of the overall value of xenons though. The range is not as good as I thought it might be.

Headlamp wash is a legal requirement for xenon headlights, idea being if there dirt on the lens it can deflect light into on coming traffic and as there so bright causing accidents

im a hoens fan, bought them for my Q5 and just ordered some for my new a3 i picked up today! as previously stated, you see them every time you lock the car(well i do where i park mine at work or in my garage) the hoens xenonmatch are awesome.. and really finish off the look of the front lights nicely ..

check out (our A3's have H8)

Hoen

Cheers

Maybe I'm just showing my age but weren't fog lights in the olden days actually tinted yellow? Or was that just for driving abroad??

Really?!?! Is that not a bit... OTT? I don't drive with mine on but it doesn't bother me enough when others do it that I would flash them. It's not like fogs dazzle you or anything. Its also very unlikely they'll even know why you're flashing.

Offset lights or crappy bulbs annoy me.

Btw I think it's actually illegal to drive with fog lights on when not foggy but haven't got a Highway Code to check.

Don't see the point of it myself.

It says explicitly in the highway code that they must be turned off in good visibility (ie. no fog or snow) but police generally enforce this only in terms of rear foglights which can dazzle drivers behind. I've never felt that oncoming foglights have dazzled me, however I occasionally am dazzled by dipped, perfectly legal xenons.

PS. Flashing cars is actually illegal too!

Something I've noticed a lot of recently is people driving around with their headlights out of alignment. Seems like they have full beam on!

Or people with a headlight bulb out who think its ok to just use full beam all the time

I'm another that gets angry. I find myself getting annoyed with people with a bulb out, be it front or rear. Or as above fogs on in the day when its clear.

And as to flashing cars, well I thought that it said in the Highway Code it means "I'm here" sort of thing

A fog light is better yellow and more diffused to cut through fog. Bright xenons will just reflect of it, but I suspect the OP isn't talking about driving in fog but wanting to drive with as many lights on as poss.

My beef is with the LED DRLs; they're too bright and are become glaring in lower light conditions; lost count of the number of times these uber-bright LED DRLs are blindingwhen it'sgoing dark becasue they haven't turned their lights on. I imagine they "think" they have thir lights on because theycan see a reflection infront of them.

i can see auto lights and highbeam assist being the law soon, its much easier

from an asthetic perpective I do see where your coming from but have you actually driven your car in fog as yet to determine the fog light output under those driving conditions?

The clues in the name really, isn't it?? Fog lights.

I don't see that if you are only using them when you should be that the different light colour will matter. Surely the important thing is that they provide improved visibility in adverse conditions.

I assume its just the look of the car when you open/close it if you've got coming home lights??

I think front fog lights are ****** useless anyway so I'd consider swapping the stock ones for xenon look ones. I found some on eBay for £6.

agreed aesthetics only.. Fog lights are useless but the yellow lights annoy me when locking and unlocking the car at night!

the xenon match transform the look and match the xenons perfectly.. Worth the bucks in my opinion..

Yes, flashing to notify a driver that you're there is the only use that's allowed. But flashing a car because they have foglights on is a misuse. As is flashing (or worse, blinding) someone that has full beam on.

Flashing a car to let them out of a junction is also technically a misuse but the highway code kind of allows for that

Apparently the new golf gtd comes with led fog lights. I'm sure audi could have offered these.

Has anyone replaced the stock fog light bulbs with something to match the LED DRL's ?
