Hi all,

Quick question.. In a nutshell, my motor is a 54 reg, no s line kit, nothing. So the rear bumper is a very simple shape & a friend of mine is selling an s line diffuser/valance in metallic black (my colour) for £45.
I have seen them on my shape A3 and think they're a nice addition, especially seeing as it's a nice grey colour which will work nicely with my wheels.

Is £45 a decent price for that part, second hand but in as new condition?

I would provide pictures but I don't have any I'm afraid.

Any help appreciated, thankyou.

Okay I'm lying, I've found a picture.

Sorry about the quality.

wont fit your 54 plate, you will need a new whole bumper s line model to have something like that

Theres ****** loads of different types of bumpers dude, i'm having one cut up at the mo to get it how i want it to look

i know it doesnt' answer it, i was just saying lol,

yeah is your mate selling the grill? looks like its had the numberplate recess removed

It wont fit a non sline bumper. Thats the answer. You could try and make it fit, but wouldnt look good.
Your bumper should be the 2 piece, whole lower half splits.

Okay mate thankyou, I won't be buying it then :)

Same as what ive just fitted, my new bumper was a 2009 model. Forget what year they used this diffuser for.

You need S Line or S3 anyway, to get rid of those rub strips on the bumpers ;)

Pretty sure I've seen someone fit a diffuser to a sport bumper, more trouble than its worth though I think.

For that diffuser/valance to fit, you'd need a 8P2 S Line bumper, one pre 2009.

Guys get your facts right before telling someone it won't work... The 2009 bumpers are very different from the 2004 ones!

a 2009 bumper is a one piece bumper but the 2004 one comes as a 2 piece bumper so essentially all brad has to do, is take the lower piece off his bumper and get the sline one fitted to it.

now there is something brad will need to consider, the bumper he has will have the rub strips on it and not smooth like sline bumpers are so it will look a little out of place. As for the diffuser it may not go straight on but it's not impossible and a small amount of work may be needed to get it on but the same is said for anyone fitting s3 valance onto the old sport bumpers which we have seen done loads of times

Thanks Ash.. That is what I thought would be the case..

Unsure whether to go ahead with it or not.

Personally I would say go for a full sline rear, looks much better and shouldn't be too much money as there are usually loads of sline bumpers on eBay as everyone wants the s3 look

I stand by what I said.
It's not a straight fit like it would be on the right bumper.
It can be made to fit with work like I said, and also doesn't look good, due to the rub strips and the long split line his original bumper has. Turning his 2 piece into a 3 piece.

With enough work I could fit a escort cosworth front end. Doesn't mean I'd tell people it would fit lol.

is that a 3door s3 2 piece valance and diffuser fitted to a sportback ? What the part number ? As i want to fit that rear valance and diffuser to a 2 piece s line bumper
cheees

I found this bumper for sale.
Can I install the S3 diffuser on it? Is it compatible?

Normally I would say no, but the fact that it already has an s-line diffuser on it then I would say yes as the necessary mods to make it fit have already been done. How well the mods have been done, I don't know.

Make sure it's a 5 door S3 diffuser though, as that is a 5 door bumper.

Thanks!
The bumper was not modiffied. It came this way from factory. Or so I was told.
I know is for sportback. My A3 is sportback.

The reason to upgrade the rear bumper is to get rid of the horrible rub strip well thats why i upgraded lol

Just to confirm, will a S3 Rear diffuser fit the following bumper? Also the rub strip, can these be removed? as I suppose an option would be fill and spray, due to there being none on eBay atm...?

Pfffff...

It would be nice if someone would make a topic with these bumpers.
Pictures with every type, 8p1 sport, 8p1 s-line, 8p2 sport, 8p2 s-line, 8p2 s3, 8p3... sportback, coupe, cabrio etc.
