Hey,

I will be after some FSD shocks shortly.

I have a 54 reg A3 8P sport 2.0tdi. Currently on standard shocks but eibach sportline springs.

Which shocks will I need?? seems to be a few to choose from :$

Thanks

I havnt heard the best things about FSDs in Golfs/A3s. Buy Bilstein B8s if you can budget for it. Otherwise I have some H&R Monotube front dampers in the classifieds section going cheap.

oh, I've read a few reviews on them and people rate them very highly :$. Personal preference I suppose.

Interested in them due to the comfort factor etc.

As mentioned the Bilstein B8 dampers will be a much better matched option for the EIbach Sportline springs, Koni FSDs tend to go better with a max drop of 30mm.

I see, ok. What are the B8's like for comfort?

I've got FSDs coupled with Neuspeed Sport springs and love the ride. But as Damian noted, they go best with progressive rate springs with a moderate drop (like Eibach Pros or the Neuspeed Sports).

for what reasons in you opinion damian are the B8,s better than the fsd as I thought the konis would be better being frequency selective damping and good for town driving and a bit of spirited driving

currently running h&r -35mm with standard dampers on a sport a3 Quattro bkd was going to change to fsd and eibach pro 30mm for a nice smooth ride am not a track guy I just like to plant my foot a few times and couple fast rounabouts lol. the current setup is very bouncy

If you going for the Eibach Pro kit then you'd be fine with the FSD dampers, any lower and I'd say the Bilstein B8 would be the better choice.

are the fsd as smooth as people say or are they just justifying to them selves on forums cos of the cost?

So how do I know if I need 50mm or 55mm??

Measure it. Or an Audi dealer can look up your chassis number.

Just done the aboveit is to do with sports suspension etc etc.

I believe the standard spec cars have 50mm and sports, s-line etc have 55mm.

Mine is 55mm as it is a sport, audi confirmed it with my chassis number

If you going for the Eibach Pro kit then you'd be fine with the FSD dampers, any lower and I'd say the Bilstein B8 would be the better choice.
