Hello all, just to release some stress and tell you about my experience with the above,

Took my car in on Thursday as the wing mirror was loose , also the stereo was playing up, volume up and down, having a mind of its own.

Also brake squeal from the font at low braking speed.

So got a phone call today, from one of the after sale guys. Tells me the front brakes are corroded disks and pads and have been replaced also they are baffled by the stereo and that they have emailed further tech guys to Investigate.

Now to the mirror, apparently, according to them (Audi Halesowen) someone has either brushed passed the mirror and broke the clips inside or I've done it, either way there not replacing it and it's going to cost £250. His next words where i can't prove that you did do it, but I can't prove that you didn't do it either.

I'm 100% certain that the car was brought with the mirror loose, there where no marks or scratches what's so ever it just dosent sit flush with the mirror body. Anyway, Audi are not budging and I'm going to escalate this to the top, going to see the service manager tomorrow and see what he says

If it's a case of brushed pass and broke it then surely it's not fit for its purpose? I've had it for just over 6 weeks

I will post a pic up see what you guys think.

Any thorts? It's an 09 S3 sport back

Also regarding the brakes, it had a multi point check including the brakes, how has it got passed that if there corroded?

Here is the pic of the mirror the tech guy took

Cos its BS,my S3 was looked over by an audi technician...he must have been on the other side of the site to not see laquer peel.

Yeah there trying to blame me for the mirror. I've made a complaint about the customer service and also failing to check the brakes surely brake corrosion is an M.O.T failure?

Would that mark on the mirror cause enough damage to brake the clips internally and make it loose?

I only go to halesowen audi for parts, and they usually manage to f**k that up too.

Absolute mongs.

Rydale Oldbury were ace when I had my BMW, I must have been mental to expect the same service from Audi.

I only have a 2005 A4, and they make me feel like a pauper every time.

I had a blazing row with the service manager the other day. I asked if there were any outstanding recalls on my car. "We'll sir, on a 2005 model any recalls would have been done by now". Arrogant, and there was a recall too lol.

Put it back to a Ford garage and keep the staff, it's about their level!!!

Yeah guess it's going to be his second row this week. Just so p**ed off with them wish I never brought it of them now and went private because there checks and approved don't mean s**t

The head parts guy has an amazing knack of this. He actually refused to sell me a driveshaft bolt telling me that i needed to buy the entire bearing kit. Refused to order me some spring clips for the boot trim too as i snapped one inspecting my rear wiper motor and wouldn't match the price of Belfast Audi for the replacement motor.

Belfast Audi on the other hand were amazing, ordered the clips i needed and sent them along with a replacement motor on next day delivery.

The servicing department issue has me a bit worried as I was thinking of booking my cambelt/water pump next week with them. Might just make the trek to Solihull instead...

I'd go elsewhere to be honest, anywhere but Halesowen.

Ballbags.

As soon as this is sorted, I'm avoiding Halesowen like the plague. I just know I'm going to have to go above the service manager, maybe regional manager?

I would have thought regional was the way to go or phone audi customer service and tell them.

I always use TPS for parts never the stealers.

Just an update,

Spoke to the parts manager about the above, and he said he is going to replace the mirror, he also confirmed that the mark (which wasn't there when i dropped it off) had no impact on the clips braking internally. so the service ad-visor (Chris Green) was lying.

He had said Audi have let me down, fair enough hes going to rectify the problem can't say fairer then that.

The mirror is on back order, so should be ready on Saturday next week.

Here are some pics of the mirror when i got it back

Its rarely the techs fault for stuff like this.
Sales dept dont want to pay for anything, there is only so much profit margin in every car, and its not normally a huge amount. So when the tech says it needs 2 tyres, discs and pads, and whatever else, they dont want it doing.
If its like a 2mm tyre they will, but for corrosion on discs, on a car thats sat on a forecourt for months, they rarely do.

They would rather risk sending it out, and repairing IF the customer brings it back. Also a lot of cars are sold with warranty policies, which then cover the cost of repairs, not the sales dept.

Im not saying this is right, just explaining what happens.

From what ive read on here, Audi seem to have shocking warranty, which is down to the dealers.
Our customers get so much stuff under warranty, that is never ever a warranty claim. But we do it for customer service / satisfaction.
For example, a wing mirror like in question. Warranty wont cover broken clips as discussed, as its going to be impact damage. But they will replace them for wind noise.
Audi dealers just seem like un helpful morons mostly. Which is odd, considering the prestige image and price tag they carry.

What an ar**!! What does it matter that its a 2005 car, its still an Audi! Whats to say you havent got 3 other Audi vehicles at home, I would have lost it at that point. :gun2:

I am sorry I disagree the tech had ticked the boxes saying he had inspected it so he was to blame in my case, whether they are robbing peter to pay paul is not my concern,I want a car with no faults.

Yes....because no one could tick a box but a tech.
If i had to guess...i would imagine the sheets we tick, and mark the faults on. Are either not given to the customer (accidentally on purpose) Or they are just redone by a sales guy to show what they want.

Im really not trying to say its never a Techs fault, maybe he did check it, and tick it. Everyone makes mistakes, and Audi may work differently. Our sales dept are responsible for any cosmetic damage, we have to check the cars at various stages of prep, sometimes we get them before body repairs, sometimes after.
But a lot gos on above a Tech. We are bottom of the food chain, i wouldnt be surprised in the slightest if the above happens. Because i know what some of the approved check sheets i do look like, and i cant see how a customer would buy it, knowing all that needed doing.

I completely agree with this comment. Regarding my brakes, a tech ticked and signed the list to say that the brakes where fine. So, the tech is to blame. I couldn't give a toss how Audi run there business. The customer should be there number 1 priority, after all there the ones, including myself who will keep coming back buying cars, keeping there business running.

If it was broken due to impact and the impact was clearly visible from outside of the mirror then completely agree, impact damage was the cause. But, there was no impact, no marks or dents, no stone chips, nothing. Even the parts manager confirmed this disagreeing with the service ad-visor. The same ad-visor that told me it was all my fault and that the manager was behind him 100%

who is to say that before i had the vehicle work was carried out on the indicator, or the heat element. Then, when they where putting it back together, they broke the screw housings and then just covered it up. it doesn't add up to me

Yes....because no one could tick a box but a tech.

In my case a tech did sign the work off unless someone forged his signature in that case its fraud within Audi.

What ever the conclusion the customers are the one that loses out and has to argue, email, write letters ETC to get work rectified. The dealers, techs and sales are the ones that cash in!

The parts manager asked a handful of techs to see if they would send a car out with the mirror the way it was. Half of them said no the other half said yes.

I'm not saying that every tech on my planet is the same and we should all tar them with the same brush. but, the service I've received from Audi Halesowen the last couple of days was completely shocking. made me rethink about buying another car from them or Audi in the future.

Before my S3, i had a Honda civic type R for over 9 years and the dealers customer service / after sales was exceptional. not all dealers are going to be the same i guess.
