Formula one 2013

Not long now… :racer:
Melbourne has turned out some good races in the past and first day back at school anything can happen.

I can hardly wait to find out where all the teams are after the winter sandbagging sessions.

with Jenson's assessment of the McLaren after practice I think I've seen how their season will pan out already = mediocre. I think their problem is that Button has never been all that good at communicating specific issues, and with Hamilton gone it may have to be Perez that the car's future development & setup falls back on.

I think they'll regret not doing more to keep Hamilton. :(

another Whitmarsh **** up.... like having an admin man running a sales team, next to useless as he doesn't understand what to prioritise naturally.

Think im going to watch paint dry every sunday instead because it looks like its going to be the Redbull show once again and im not wasting my time watching that sh!t for the 4th year in a row.

Imagine if the Mercedes is a better car than the McLaren is(it's looking likely), what a masterstroke it is for LH to have moved teams!

Well that was poor... Midnight it is.

Imo I think it was wrong to postpone qualifying, to stop them going out cos of rain…
If they stopped it cos they thought the wind was to strong and dangerous ok but rain, NO!

Good to see Mercedes thinking and sending Lewis and Nico our first in front of the other teams to have a clear track when the pit lane opened. Little things like that can add up over the year. :icon_thumright:

Oh dear, shocking decision by mclaren to put Perez on another slicks set.
And it's Vettel again....

Brilliant start by Webber as usual :D

This time last year talk was all about how good McLaren were. What a massive step back they've taken.

They took a risk with a lot of changes which clearly don't work. Hopefully they will get better for next race otherwise my ff1 team is screwed.

Great job by Kimi. He deserved it!

We seen some fantastic respectful wheel to wheel overtaking today, but imo I still think running tyres that you cannot push the car with, is taking some of the skill out of the drivers hands and its a lot down to lady luck.

So many different strategies, pit stops on different laps, I had my Abacus out about lap 26 and still couldn't keep up who was in the lead on merit? :)

I felt so sorry for Massa, (one of the best drives of the day) I still don’t know how Ferrari messed that one up for him?????? Anyone ?

Good win for Kimi “nice one”

:)

Can't help but feel Webber is given a secondary launch map whenever he's close to Vettel on the grid! If it's only about flooring it & letting the electronics sort the rest out, it can't be anything he's doing wrong?

Great to see Kimi back on the top step, let's hope Lotus can keep him ahead of the pack.

:)

I dont think they messed up, I did think at first it was Alonso getting his own way by doing the undercut , but by the end of the race it was clear that Alonso was faster than Massa and Ferrari made the right call letting Alonso pit first, Massa didnt have the speed to overtake Vettel by the end of race.

Button reckons it wont be until mid may that they start to be on par with the other teams. I read they do have a quick car but they cant figure out how to dial it in

Finger on pole ...urgh, Massa 2nd with Alonso 3rd!

Alonso will be 1st after the first corner ;)

This might be seen as controversial, but to me it's always boring. Unless it's rainy and they all start to crash.

It can certainly be an expensive procession. I've nothing against F1 at all but I do prefer MotoGP / WSB / BSB etc.. It's rare for a bike race to be dull :)

I don't think it is controversial crazy88. I like some sports and not others, for example I find the following sports boring;

Cricket; It takes 4 days to play which has to be the most tedious way to spend 4 days of your life.
Rugby: Stop/start stop/start more penalties than Man United get at Old Trafford.
Tennis: Posh boys pinging a little green ball over a tiny net.
Bike racing: Not a fan of bikes.
Rallying: One car at a time. Would be much more fun if they had to start at the same time LOL

But there are sports I like which others detest;

Football
Golf
F1
Snooker
Darts

Any way, I am off to sleep now as the F1 is on again, and I watched it this morning.

Please somebody off Vettel.

I've gone past caring who qualifies first now. I'm more interested on how Hamilton performs against his team mate, and what Raikkonen can do from 10th position. It would please me very much if Vettel shreds his tyres early and goes down the field. Massa has out qualified Alonso in the last 4 races also which is interesting, but Alonso is the more complete racer during the race, so will probably finish ahead of Massa, which is what counts.

Imho, the thing is with F1 if you not into it or willing to give it a full season, you judging it on only one or two races, and that’s the same of any sport or hobby.

Im a big fan of MotoGP and this year with Rossi back at Yamaha it will be as interesting to see how he and Lorenzo get on… on and off the track, but someone watching the MotoGp for the first time may only give it one race just to see some action, they will not understand the history of the riders or teams, and I think that’s a big part of enjoying motogp and F1

I think it will only be boring if we all like the same things.

Massa done well again today, :icon_thumright: I hope Ferrari let him race and not let Alonso pass :racer:
Force India looking good id like to see both drivers finish in the points

Would be good to see massa hav a run but I honestly think he will struggle against the others guys who have a stronger mind set, let's face it u can only play second fiddle for so long before it must wear u down.
Was hoping to see a stronger showing from Williams ??
Mind u I am a kimi fan :))

Looking forward to the morning.

Watch out for the fast-starting Ferrari's

Massa is a quality driver but that part nearly killing him knocked him a lot.

Massa will never be able to race competitively against Alonso. I bet it's in Alonso's contract.

And that is what is wrong with formula one today, too many politics

F1 has always been like that. Back in the days number 2 drivers used to give up there cars for the number 1 driver to use if he occured a problem with his car.

Ferrari like to operate as a team where they put the efforts on one side of the garage with the other side there to help picking up points for the team and take points of other drivers. I personally think nothing wrong with team orders but then again i am a Ferrari fan :sm4:
