Looks like I've been nominated randomly to take part in in answering a whole load of questions regarding work, retirement, unemployment training, and looking after the family home and home. etc.

Anyone else had to do this?

They tried to see me today, but I was out, so I need to book a future date with them. lol

they are just a f*****n pain.... I've been filling in their stupid questionnaires for nearly 20 years now...

total waste of time and effort.

:wall:

Don't give them your card details, don't let them go upstairs on their own, don't let them make a call using your phone......other than that they are fine.

I did it once but a long time ago and I think I got paid for it.
It's a waste of your time, but you just need to workout if you think what they pay you for that hour is worth it for you?

20 years?! Can I opt out?

Sounds promising now!

Get paid?, surely not?

I'm not keen to be honest, if it's just a few questions and nothing more, then I'm ok with it.

#optimistic

I do it for business, so may be different from yours - sorry, but no I can't opt out, and it's actually an offence if I don't complete them!

Although they claim it's a 'random' process... it's nothing but.... and as I say, I have to complete them...

Compliance and Enforcement

What authority does ONS have to conduct its business surveys?

ONS business surveys are conducted under Section 1 of the Statistics of Trade Act 1947.

Can I be exempt from completing the survey questionnaire?

No. Once selected a business is legally obliged to complete the survey because it is conducted under the provisions of the Statistics of Trade Act 1947.

Is there an appeal process?

No there is no appeal process.

What will happen if I do not complete the questionnaire?

Failure to comply could lead to prosecution at a Magistrates Court with a fine up to a maximum of £2,500 (last up dated by section 17 of the Criminal Justice Act 1991). You will still need to complete the questionnaire.

They've got you now mate!!

Theres no getting away ;)

So a quick search on google doesn't really real much. You can tell the surveyor you want to opt out, but they will be like a door to door salesman, insisting you go ahead with it, so you have to somehow refuse to let them in the house apparently! lol

I did just call them up directly to opt out, and the woman said it wasn't mandatory to take part, but it is important to take part, so I told her I was ill, it really isn't a good time for me, she said it could be done over the phone, to which I refused. So she said she will come back in 3 months time, to which I reluctantly accepted, but I refused to give her my phone number! lol
