Ok.. I'll be brief.
My RS has done 2000 miles, the other day with no warning it lost all power and rolled to a stop whilst poodling along warming her up. Turned her off, then back on. Ran for the rest of the day without missing a beat. Scanned with vcds when I got home - fuel pressure regulator fault followed by low fuel fault (yes i had plenty of fuel before anyone asks!) Called audi uk, they told me my car needs a recall for a known fuel pressure electronics issue, so they booked it in for the following Monday. Cheers for letting me know, before I had to call them:banghead:
The next evening, whilst driving in traffic, the car started to stink, a bit of an oily smell, but very strong. No warning lights, didn't run bad, but lots of smoke from under the bonnet and the car. I was pretty close to home so as soon as I pulled up I looked and noticed quite a bit of oil underneath although difficult to pinpoint. I called audi assist, who had the car recovered to the dealership.
After a somewhat lengthy investigation, they told me that the leak was from the transfer box and that they had to have one shipped from Germany.
Just over a week later, it had been replaced and I picked my car up. The fuel pump recall issue had been overlooked somehow so the car has had to go back in (again!) but my dealership have been good with the goodwill gestures and have made me feel valued, but...........
I'm just starting to wonder how reliable a vehicle this is going to be..........?

Other than the obvious brakes issue mines been spot on!

Had the door locks squeak a bit when opened remotely but that's gone now.

There's problems with every line/model of car going, Just unlucky you've had two issues in one go :(

It seems like there are a number of issues now, and we're not getting them all each (yet). I have not had the brake squeal or the prop shaft, so now I'm worried these are going to show at some point. Definitely, definitely not going to be mapping it now :(

RS3 reliability based on everyone's recent experiences is poor..... Hyper car performance appears to be coming at a heavy price, the engine is a masterpiece; however it does make you wonder how much of the car has been built 'to a price' rather than be-spoke design for the demanding RS3 engine set-up.

My only issue so far is the squealing brake situation....... had no other issues and I've put 7000miles on the car in the last 3 months, never used launch control; not saying you shouldn't just pointing out my experiences.

Only other noticeable glitch....... steam billows from front grill for a couple minutes after some decent driving, no big deal. Topped up oil level recently, just under a litre and the coolant level is near minimum mark last time I checked.......

Despite these annoyances and bearing in mind I currently don't have my car as I insisted on getting a lone car until the breaks are sorted, I still love it..... very rare, very cool, very happy...... most of the time.

sorry for you're troubles quattro81

Other than the brakes squeak issue, the only thing which is annoying me is the fact I sometimes have to turn it over twice to start.... wondering if this is related to the fuel pump....

*** ,sorry to hear this quattro ,i think you could be right klauster ,get it booked in ..

I'd phone audi uk, klauster.. They'll be able to tell you if it's due a recall on this now known (according to them) issue. I'd do it just to have the fault logged if nothing else in case you get any problems.

Me too!

Other than the front brake-squeal issue I've ZERO issues to raise!

An ACE motor car! We Love it!

I would NOT change it for anything else, period!

I'd just like to add, that this car could pretty much grow a second head and misfire on gear change and I'd still keep it. My love affair continues...
and in some ways I'd rather it all break now and get replaced so I can tick it off the list

It's annoying Chris yes, BUT thats what warranty is for my friend ;)
I couldn't agree more, N8.. It's not about stuff breaking - that happens, it's all about getting it fixed and them looking after you in the process ;)

Klauster.. I've had the exact same problem with mine, and I find it especially bad when cold not sure if this is the same with you? I called the local dealership (Cardiff) and they couldn't find anything wrong with it. So not sure what the issue is, probably should give audi uk a call, as Cardiff didn't really seem to know what they were talking about.

Sorry to hear your issues quattro.

I've had the fuel pressure update and still get issues starting it and often have to turn it twice.

I was going to say its worse when weather is milder. Also get this short hoover noise when restarting after the engine is warm!?

lae203 - just down the road from you. We should meet, I'd like to check out another RS?

:)

I think you should all shut up, very jealous

One year old, 5000 miles, zero reliability issues, not even brake squeal, cant praise it enough

You need to get out and use it more mate! 5700 on the clock after 4.5 months of onwership. That said no real faults, occasional squeek but everyting else spot on.

I,ve driven two rs3's and they have both had steamy grill's ..;)

You are driving them how they should be then mate :)

Not to mention that lovely smell they produce from the fan that seems to blow out from the passenger side wing :)

Just waiting for the better weather ,to get some landscape pictures of the lakes with my car in there ;)

And so it goes on.... Hadn't had a chance to drive her since the brief journey home from the stealership following them replacing the transfer case... So today I went out and did about 40miles, could smell the transmission fluid smell again -put it down to them not cleaning the residue off from before, until I got home and another little puddle of it dripped straight out onto my nice tiled floor. Back to audi it goes again :banghead:
Just to add, audi uk have been great, but the local dealer phoned me up earlier to ask if I had been "driving spiritedly"!!!!! As they have noticed the shoulders were worn quite badly on the front tyres......I pointed out it was an RS model car as in RENN SPORT... The saga continues.

A friend of a friend was once asked this about a performance car he had when the ceramic brakes cracked..... His reply "Ive driven the absolute b*llocks off it" It surprised the dealer !!!!

Hope it gets sorted soon so you can enjoy the car!

I've hardly used mine this week, Might head up to the Lakes for some twisty road goodness.
