Been surfing the web and came across a few tips and tricks some of which were new to me and some that might be common knowledge but i thought i would share please add to the list and comment if they work these are all without using VAGCOM
Enjoy

Key Fob
Pressing and holding the boot unlock for 2/3 seconds will unlock the boot ( unlike a single quick press to unlock the doors)
pressing and holding the unlock button for 2/3 sec will open all the windows and and the same to the lock button will close them all

Window pinch
press and hold the window up for 5 sec, press down instantly to open the window all the way and hold for 5 sec while its down and instantly close again and hold all the way to the top the pinch control is now stored

Throttle Body Alignment
insert ignition key and turn to before the starter motor is engaged (do not start the car ) push accelerator to the floor wait 3 sec turn the key all the way back but do not remove. release the accelerator and wait 2 Min's remove the key put it back in and start the car you should notice a better response when pressing the accelerator (do this action every few weeks)

reversing. passenger wing mirror auto tilt ( so you don't scuff those precious rims)
move the wing mirror switch on the drivers door to the passenger adjustment position put the car in reverse mirror tilts down and shows you the kerb .( may not work on some cars )

Climate control
hold the auto button on the drivers side for 4 sec and release now you can control both temps with the driver side + & - buttons
to reset and revert back to independent control just use the passenger + & - button

turn on and off the instrument display
by pressing the reset button twice

De-Bose
on the radio press and hold the menu button till you get to the Nav/ Radio or something menu and turn it all the way to zero position and press the button again the system has been de bosed and the Bass is louder

You scuffed an alloy?

Naughty step!!!!

Wonder if it works on mine, it's fairly poverty spec so I doubt it.

please post your results guy's and if you have any tips & tricks you want to add whack em on  and share !

the window key fob , boot unlock , and throttle calibration, & air con dual control all worked for me gonna try the rest later

I've used this to reset my window regulator / anti-pintch sensor:

Start with the window all the way up.
Hold the switch down until the window is all the way down
Hold the switch up all the way until the window is fully up
Continue to hold it up for 10 seconds.
This should reset the pinch sensor.

The issue I had was that if I opened the window, when I tried to close it again the pinch function would kick in and it would drop the window again... bit annoying when your driving and rain starts to fall.
It also helps to clean the green slim build up on the window seals :)

Is the mirror tilt only available on those cars with with memory seats? This used to be the case with my BMWs if I am not mistaken.

i thought my boot release was up the spout to I'd been pressing the door unlock 3 times to open the boot once i stumbled on this there was no going back lol

cheers Jeff, will download that at home. First car to never have a manual come with it....

Failing that, bite the bullet and buy one. Sounds obvious, but there's so much in there we need to know.

What is the anti pinch control all about?

I can confirm that holding unlock on the key fob for at least 2/3 seconds makes all the windows go down, and then back up if you hold the lock button down for the same amount of time. Very useful when we have that one week of warm weather as you can open all your windows as approaching the car to let some of the heat out. My 8 year old son loves this feature too, he even shows his mates on our street!

As mentioned above, the mirror feature is only for cars with memory seats..

I've been asked by a colleague to ask you if the backdrop to that picture (it's a beautiful shot, by the way) is the Clune Brae near Greenock.

Jeff

EDIT: Said colleague has looked again, and asked me to withdraw the question, LOL!

Still interested to know where it is, though.

Er...the boot opening button press is in the owner's manual.

I also found that pulling the handle on the door opens it. I was amazed. No longer will I use a brick!

I have just checked my Bose settings and found they have been changed already. Has anyone got the original settings so I can see the factory Bose and de Bose sound? Thanks

Ahah, east coast rather than west. Thanks for that. I will let my colleague know, just as soon as he and his hangover return to work here in London after watching St Mirren win the League Cup at Hampden

I have found that if you open the fuel cap thingy and fill it to the brim with Shell v Power, it mysteriously empties very quickly allowing you more room to fill it up....all over again! Great eh?
