A3 S-Line Rear Spoiler

Hi guys!

Would you recommend purchasing a rear spoiler direct from Audi parts? I'm after the same rear spoiler used on SLine/Black Edition models.

Have been quoted £180 incl. VAT + Paint & Labour.

Due for a service in just a few weeks so was planning to have it fitted then. Have seen some cheaper ones on EBay just not sure I would take the risk online.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Yes buy from audi, don't touch aftermarket tat on ebay, terrible materials used, which are hard to bond primer & paint too.

I have been after a genuine sline spoiler as well and after reading a lot of threads seems like the aftermarket ones on eBay don't align properly.

Genuine would be my only choice when I finally decide to order mine lol.

You can get genuine spoilers off eBay but they don't come up too often. It depends if you want to hold out a few months for one to come up or spend a bit more and get one direct from Audi.

I got mine off eBay by searching for full tailgates and looking for the ones with spoilers on. Most, if not all, sellers wouldn't split the spoiler and tailgate so I bought a tailgate with a spoiler on and split it myself. If I remember correctly, it set me back around £85-£90 for it.

I couldn't bring myself to pay £250 ish that audi wanted for the spoiler brand new which is silly money for what it is so I did the same as leeds, waited a while searching for tailgates and one popped up for £120 so bought that and took the spoiler off myself.

Paint shop I used charged £100 to paint and fit it for me so cost £220 in total which is still less than than an unpainted brand new one!

Thanks for the advice guys. Will likely go ahead & purchase from Audi - Car doesn't look finished ATM. Also wanting a rear diffuser (again like SLine models) but probably have that put on later. J

As the guys said I think 180 is reasonable for everything from Audi. At least it will be a pro job!

The difference is fairly subtle but it was enough to put me off the votex one so I'd check to make sure your not disappointed!

Exactly the same reason I didn't go for the Vortex spoiler. It looks too square IMO.

Any advice for fitting these to a non s line car? I believe you have to remove the two lugs but is it possible to bond it using just the double sided tape that comes on them new? Or will I need to use some sort of glue? Thanks.

Tiger seal will do the job.

I have a genuine S3/ S line spoiler sat in my garage. intended on fitting it to my car, but I might be selling up for an estate soon. Its Ibis white from a 2011 S3 and imaculate, so if anyone wants one in that colour I might be persuaded to part with it. It could just be bonded straight on.

I would suggest drilling the holes in the bootlid, if the threaded risers are still affixed to the spoiler, then sticking it down with the correct tape, as I've found with the use of sealant, when it dries, it sucks the spoiler down a bit & gives it a slight curve as such.

thanks for the advice NHN! Are there any tips as to the drilling of the boot-lid? Never really attempted anything like this before on my car so I'm a little apprehensive! Thanks again.

There are holes already cut out from the inside, so you can drill a pilot hole through, then use a cone cutter from the top, masking tape & don't wipe of any metal filings, hoover them up or blow them of, otherwise you'll scratch the paintwork.

Had a go at doing this today.. any advice on how to remove the bootlining/trim? Its an absolute b***h to get of by the looks of it!! :/

Use Sikaflex to put the spoiler on; cut the lugs off, key the boot paint with some wet n dry, stick the spoler on and tape it down on the top with masking tape to hold it in position whilst it bonds.

I personally wouldn't drill the car, you risk starting corrosion even if you paint/protect it and it's not really required as the sikaflex works really well.

Tiger seal and they were going no where!
