About time I introduced myself and my car, so here goes…. This is copied from my local site, so some bits might not make sense.

Few basics about the car, 114k, remapped to 260bhp, 5 paddle clutch, resrayed in 2006, used to be silver, not a bad paint job, with all the shuts etc painted. Powerflex on dog leg mount and low arms.

How i bought it, on 19" RS4 wheels

First thing i did was to wet and dry the headlights;

Front brake discs were looking slightly worse for wear!

IMG_2127.jpg

Wondered why there was a dodgy noise coming from the n/s/f brake!

IMG_2128.jpg

IMG_2131.jpg

So ordered new front Pagid discs and pads.

In the mean while i took all the callipers and carriers off...

IMG_2132.jpg

One carrier prep'd for paint

IMG_2136.jpg

Sprayed in VHT black barrel paint, finished in engine enamel

IMG_2149.jpg

IMG_2151.jpg

The rears got the same treatment, also painted the rear discs in slimjim style as they had minimal wear but ruined the look of the fresh calipers being all rusty round the edges.

Took the sump off to clean out the pick up (well advised olly), glad i did it was quite dirty! Also found that where one of the gearbox bolts goes into the sump that the thread was stripped, with the bolt barely hanging on in there!

Ordered a helicoil kit... Ebay £9 bargain!

IMG_2197.jpg

Took it to work to drill, tap and helicoil, few boring pictures i took of the process....

IMG_2192.jpg

Drilled

IMG_2193.jpg

Tapped

IMG_2194.jpg

Helicoil'd

IMG_2196.jpg

Bought some H&R -25mm springs, havent bothered with shocks yet, not sure why, i was feeling tight at the time and didnt want to buy any, standard shocks ride fine and shouldn't leak for some time with being only 25mm lower.

IMG_2199.jpg

Went to fit, ****ing pain in the *** it was!

One ****ed lower ball joint, two bolts snapped, one i cut off, same with the other side, so i replaced both... obviously.

IMG_2205.jpg

Also took off and sprayed the rear boot lifters as they looked manky

And the door catches

Bought some new wheels for it too, Cupra r wheels, need a refurbish as they're chipped to ****, despite what the seller said, couldnt check what condition as they were filthy when i picked them up!! Thinking of gun metal grey, probably get them done after christmas.

And now some pics of what it looks like now!

Ordered an lcd display replacement for the dials as the old one was fuuuuuuuucked! Dead lines all over the place, literally could make no sense from it, was like trying to read wingdings font.
Asked a guy at work if he could fit it as hes been in the electrical repair game for 30 odd years, he said no problem (before seeing it). So i took it in yesterday for him to look at once id got the display through, and he was very skeptical about doing it, he'd not done one like it before, but hes pretty good with the soldering iron so i let him have a go, he managed to do it, just. But he ****ed one of the tabs, removing it off the ribbon, so wasnt sure if it would work. Got it home plugged it in.

****ing awesome! Was well chuffed. Started assembling it, and 3/4 of the ****ing tabs de-solder. Was well ******. So i took it back in today for someone else who works on circuit boards to have a go at it. She managed to do it, and i got her to glue it with circuit board glue just to be safe. Then when i was looking at it during my lunch i realised that some of them had popped back off. Was ready to buy a new one off ebay at this point. So i thought **** this, ive watched a video on youtube of how to solder it. I'll have a go, so i borrow a Weller digital temp adjustable soldering iron. Took it home, soldered it just like the video, and it works perfectly, MUCH better connection that before. ****ing genius i am.

This is what i had to solder :|

Also bought some snow foam. Although i wasnt expecting it to come in quite so many bottles lol.

Last but not least, i also replaced the rubber seal that runs along the top of the windscreen, the old one;

My snowfoam attachment sucks. Would like to buy a proper one at some point.
Got a couple bits done Saturday morning. Fitted a new abs sensor as mine was ******** and so was putting the abs and traction control light on. And fitted a new door mechanism, as mine didn't like to shut.

Started on Saturday evening

Day went pretty well. Til some of the jubilee clips broke. ****ing annoying. But got it all done, but need to replace a couple of them and re fit the bumper.

Used some ali angle to support it, and some bent stainless strips underneath... Don't want it all going rusty.

wow thank you very much!...... Pics or gtfo. Haha.

Thanks :)! Someone told me that they did do a few in white... But you've got to take everything he says with a pinch of salt so I'm not sure I believe him.

Rice, thought about silvertech indicator bulbs or facelift head lights?

i hadn't actually. That's a good shout. I quite like the square look of the pre facelift lights on this. Plus facelift lights are pricey!

Love the neatly-arranged bottles on the shelf in the garage - nice.

Also liking the black & white theme of the car & garage walls/doors - very co-ordinated! Just not sure about Cupra R wheels on the S3 (just my opinion).

very nice car buddy like the black touches!! facelifts look like this to give you an idea on choice

cheers sean im grateful for your comment but i dont want to spam rice's thread!

thanks

After black, that has to be my favorite colour on a S3! was tinkering about wrapping mine in white a while back, would love to see what it would look like with the normal silver avus wheels? Beaut as it is..

Lol, I'm in two minds now. Carry on with the hybrid build and rag the bejesus out of it or spray it white and sit and look at it...

My gosh, only see this thread now, Truly in love with your car mate, nothing looks better than a white S3.

Thanks! I'm pretty OCD when it comes to arranging things in my garage lol, I'm not sure why I half sprayed the door, I was probably bored. And keeping the audi clean. Well that's fair enough, would be boring if everyone liked the same thing :).

Thanks! That would be interesting yeah. Not sure it would go with the black and white theme though.
Very nicely done. Nice and tidy.
Ta, much appreciated :).

nice car rice.
i saw avlos white s3 last week and it was *****ing.

how did you replace that seal at the top of the windscreen?? mine is looking weathered

p.s. i got your pm last night, but was then forced to empty my inbox so ive lost it, but i've updated my ad in the classifieds anyway.

Cheers :). With great difficulty. Pulled the old one off, that was easy. Putting the new one on was fairly tricky, just used a screwdriver to gently push it on. Ok no worries.

Great thread, thanks for your time putting this together, the photos are great. Keep up the good work.

really nice car mate i think the Cupra R wheels work well...

Ta, me too :D

Going to go to halfords tonight i think and get some silvertech bulbs as scott suggested :).

There's a lot to like about this car, but I personally would get those I/C hoses in black instead of silver. Personal preference, I wouldn't have them on show even, but that's me.

Cheers. Yeah I looked for black hard pipes when I bought them but couldn't find any. Might buy a couple more and get them anodised. See how I feel when I'm used to seeing it.
