Hi everyone, I have a 56 plate A3 2.0TDI with full Audi service history & its due a major service, the question is.....do i take it to the main stealer & keep up the Audi service history, Or take it to Dialynx (Audi specialist) ??
The main stealer wants £299 for a major service, whereas Dialynx charge £209, but if it goes the the stealer im guessing it will also get any ecu updates or recalls done (if there is any) whereas it would'nt at Dialynx ?
Is the "Full Audi service history" label really worth keeping to possibly maintain a slightly higher value ? Would most buyers be happy with "Full service history" (it would be done by a well known Audi specialist)
The car was last serviced by Audi in feb 2012
What do you think?

Thanks
Mark

Dialynx seem to have a very good reputation. How many miles has your car done?Personally I would go to them just to see some of their crazy creations !!

All depends how many miles you've done. Mine had full dealer history till 30k then full specialist till 50k. I now take it to LION Garage which is a specialist in Nottingham whenever the indicator comes up and change the oil and filter myself every 10k.

Any ECU updates at dealer are chargeable unless part of a recall. Only recalls at present are injectors on 170bhp models

lol......its got 114k on the clock ;-)

I'd be servicing it myself (keeping receipts) and if not then definitely at a specialist because of their familiarity and knowledge with the engine requirements as opposed to a normal garage. For example VAG use specific oils and coolant which specialists would keep in stock as they buy it in bulk whereas a normal garage would have to order it in smaller quantities. Don't forget these extra costs may be passed down to the customer too.

Personally I wouldn't trust any normal garage with my car unless they were a specialist.

I'm on 90k now and I had a full main dealer history up until 68k miles. After this, I am taking it to my local specialist. Hand on heart I will never recommend Coventry Audi again to anyone in my life. You walk in with trousers on and they want to sell you a car. Walk in with jeans for parts and they ignore you. I had a major service done at 56k by them: DSG oil and filter (they under filled the dsg oil), charged me for a water pump that they failed to provide and the car came back with three scratches on it and the icing on the cake was a "lower boost pipe" leak when there was nothing wrong with the pipe at all.

I have kept all invoices, receipts etc. Be it for oil, a bulb, a tyre, you name it... and an Excel spreadsheet to boot of what went wrong on what date, where it was fixed, who by and how much it cost. Very anal but it helped to sell my previous car easily because it was all clear cut to the buyer.

thanks for the replies peeps, had it serviced by Dialynx today ;-)

_G_....Audi Swindon are exactly like that as well, they keep sending me "special invites" to buy a new car ! (like ive got a spare £25,000) I think its just Inchape audi's agressive sales tatics...;-)

My car had full audi service history up until I purchased it.
It looks good to the potential buyer but it doesnt always mean the car is as good as it can be.

I purchased my car last year with full Audi service history & MOTs carried out at Audi.
It was on the longlife service, which unfortunatley meant that my camshafts needed changing (they wear with the longlife oil)
Most suspension related bushes were shot, air filter not replaced in a long time.etc
Going through the history, the services werent cheap either, with no advisories listed on previous MOT's/Services.

I service all my cars myself, as I take my time, know what im doing and know they will be done properley - keeping all receipts.
Iv almost spent as much as I paid for the car on replacing parts!..madness.

I think that injector re call was a few years ago now john ;-)

Ive got to admit i wasnt very impressed with the Dialynx service.....half a can of white grease on the rear door hinges & none on the front doors :-/ And half the undertray screws either wernt put back or wernt tightened up properly!
Petty cpmplaints i know, but it makes me wonder if these small things we're missed then what else was ??.....might go to the main stealer next time.
