Audi called again...... no S4 available at the moment so they offered the following:

TT Quattro coupe TFS
A5 S-Line 2.0 TDI
S3 2012
Q5 S-Line 2.0 TDI

Went for Q5...... They then said it wasn't available! at that point I requested the S4 again and ended the conversation quickly as
I was loosing the will to live.......
:wtf:

Robbie,

If they offer you a Grey S4 saloon reject it, it has a nasty chip in the windscreen, right in the drivers field of vision, it's a 62 plate with 3K miles.

Not the one i've got then...:arco:

Wayne, look at that fat **** print on the leather already...

After nearly 150 miles that must be normal wear and tear...

That was the first thing I noticed Garry when it was dropped off yesterday...:notme:

It didn't appear to be so bad today when I went out in it. :beerchug:

Mine is in at the moment and been there 2 days so far, what did my Dad get when he dropped it off I hear you ask?? A 1.6Tdi A1! no fair!

next time you're phoning Audi to complain or book in..... call whilst in the car breaking from 5mph to zero...... it kinda get's to the point quickly, the guy at Audi UK started going green down the phone when I was applying the brakes. Primitive yes.... effective, very.

I got a call yesterday from Audi customer services saying there is an official factory fix for the squel now our and to expect a call from my dealer to book the car in for the work. Unfortunatly they knew nothing about what the fix was - I couldnt wait dso called the dealer to book it in, they confirmed that an official fix has been released but the parts are not yet available! WTF!! The fix is replacement pads with a softer compound material, I am now expecting a call when these are stock.

I am not in a hurry now as after applying the shims I only get an occasional squuek now, not like the factory squeel of a banshee with an amp under each wheel arch!!!

Least they have finally done something!!!

Softer compound pads would worry me slightly, only because pad deposition due to the soft compound Pagid used in their OEM pads caused most of the judder / vibration issues with the B7 RS4 and original TTRS's. I hope they have found a pad somewhere in the middle like EBY Yellowstuff or Ferrodo DS2500 as otherwise we'll go from squeeky brakes to 'warped' ones!

P_G "Softer compound pads would worry me slightly..."

ME TOO! It just isn't the friction material causing the problem.

Consider: I, S3AD, JonnyG, monkeyboy_marcus, and others have ALL added Mintex anti-squeal material to the existing pad and it HAS dramatically improved, if not eliminated (as in my case) the brake-squeal problem.

None of the aforementioned has changed the friction material.

So, if Audi want to change my brake pads for a softer material then I'll give it a go! BUT! I'm coming away from my dealer with my existing pads - with added anti-squeal material - in my pocket.

Just look at the photograph: this is one of my brake pads at about 1350-miles: the pistons have already worn through the original anti-squeal material (if there was any there in the first place) and then the paint, down to the mild steel back-plate.

8x PAD1

Now I'm no brain surgeon, Brembo expert, or Audi 'technician', but I'm not 'stupid' either...

Let's hope the message S3AD has been given is wrong!

Softer deposition, so does that mean our wheels will be as black your hat within 5 miles with all the fall out from the softer pads...?

Agreed, my own theory on this is that OEM Pagid's caused so many issues on RS4's and TTRS's (a number of RS4's have had ceramic brakes applied to them after chewing disks and pads every 500 miles or less for periods of 12-18 months) they went with a hard compound pad to eliminate pad deposition but in the design of them did not put enough shim material in to wisthstand caliper application. Hence why your aftermarket shims work because the applied pressure is now enough to expel trapped air between pad compound and surface and generate heat quicker into the pad and disk to stop the squeeling occuring in the first place but the shims are now thick enough they are not destroyed by the pistons in doing this

Like said there are aftermarket pads that I believe would solve the issues like they have on RS4's and TT-RS's and I would be interested to look at the new Brembo anti-squeel pads APS advertise and a new OEM Brembo pad to see whether it is just compound difference or in fact the shims are more robust / thicker.

And you are right Moschops, softer pads will make your titan rotors look as black as a miners face in a fraction of the time the current ones do.

Just to confirm that I have now done over 2000 miles with 45bvtc's fix and it is still working 100% ... no return of the big squeal :sm4:

That is indeedy a good idea !

Audi have called again...... and I'm getting an S4 Avant tomorrow. RS3 goes into dealership until the break fix is applied.
Pick up tomorrow around 4pm.....

After months of peace mine started squealing like the proverbial Deliverance pig this afternoon for about 20mins in traffic, then peace again. An A4 TDi driver gave me a right dirty look and closed his slightly open drivers window in the traffic as I squeaeeeeeeelllled to a halt beside him. I might have accidentally engaged S mode off the lights to leave him with a more pleasant sound.

Make sure you keep a note of the mileage on your car Robbie! You may find it goes home with a few sales guy's while it's there! Enjoy the S4!

Mine was at the dealer yesterday. When I collected it both seats were laid back boy racer style, radio was on Kiss FM and it had an additional 17mls...
They said they only went up the dual and back which is 2mls at most...

That's disgusting! I was on my brand of trackers website constantly checking the location while it was in!

Hmm...I would not be happy with that. I make a point of reminding them about realtime journey tracking when mine goes in for this purpose.

I always laugh at them when they ask me if they can collect and return the car...

my new blinging ride...... far too silver/chrome and shiny for my likey

Oh my god that is not good, which dealer is this?

CarrG.

They are taking the ****.

Go back in and see the manager.Tell him what you have stated here, and that you are totally dissatisfied, and what are you going to do about it.

Remain silent until he speaks (15 secs is a long time in this situation) the 1st one to speak is the loser. This is classic sales tactics.

I feel gutted for you.

Couldn't quite see what has happened by your pic.btw.

Soul destroying, what is that on the seat - looks almost like paint but surely not. Once I'd calmed down I'd be having some strong words with said dealership.

As 45bvtc said on another thread, a great car being spoiled by incompetents. What I've read over the last few weeks has made me wary about spending more money with Audi, the customer service needs to match the premium price of the cars.

Blimey Garry, I'm lost for words, WTF have they got on your seats? some one needs an :asskicking:

Looks like ink, brake fluid or maybe oil...??

I've resisted touching it....much to my annoyance.
I have an array of products and some great graffiti remover....grhhh
Its on the white stitching - worse material to remove this.

Tech overalls and no seat cover running through my mind.
Crazy because the visit was over a previous error!
Scratched B Pillar Gloss trim before!!

I called today but the CS Mgr I deal with wasn't in.

And breath...

Cheers Guys

YOU HAVE to expose the dealer CarrG!

I respectfully suggest you write to AutoExpress (PM me for details) and then copy Martin Sander (PM me again if you don't have details) at Audi UK;
and EXPOSE these incompetent BAS*ARDS...

Apologies guys but the 'T' sometimes doesn't work on my PC: the F*U*C*K 'EM does however...

I seriously 'HATE' WHAT these INCOMPETANT BAS*ARDS are doing to the RS3: AND any other car that guys are spending HARD-EARNED cash on to be F****D about by Audi so-called 'technicians'.

Robbimac called 'em: wucking fankers: I rather like that, and in some cases it appears totally appropriate!!!

BUT... I have to say that I've total confidence in the guys at Stafford Audi! Maybe you should take you cars there.... BUT it's NOT the answer...

AND I have checked 'em out: when I first started to use Stafford Audi I'd regularly have the car back in the garage with the wheels off and/or back over the 'pit' just to look see, and NEVER found them wanting....

HOWEVER, YOUR/OUR RESPONSIBLE ACTION IS to: a) EXPOSE the so-called Audi 'trained' yet still incompetent BAS*ards!!! In the Press if necessary, and b) consider carefully the dealer to whom you'd 'TRUST' your own motorcar to!

I HAVE!!! And, for the time being, it is Stafford Audi...

DONT attempt to do anything, leave it exactly as it is,you will only muddy the waters.

They will hav to return it to exactly the same condition it was when you brought it in. Dont be fobbed off.

any fcking hassle, tell them you'll give them some free publicity.

Looks like the blood spilt from the last mechanic to 'fix' you're squealing brakes

I have brake squeal after only 300 miles, is that normal? It scared my daughter's teachers when I dropped her at school this morning :notme:
