I have been approached on a different forum by someone that wants to trade his '99 S3 with 200.000 KM that is completely stock, for my 2002 A3 that has 140.000 KM, + some money his way.

What sorts of faults and weaknesses am i looking for on the S3, except for the usual rust along the roof and bottom of the doors.

Will my full Milltek exhaust for an A3, fit an S3? Modding the muffler is the least concern.

The S3: Audi S3 1,8 T 210 quattro – dba.dk – Køb og Salg af Nyt og Brugt

I have to say i am sort of excited, because S3's are not very common here, but then again, why would you wanna trade and S3 for an A3, even if it has alot less KM on it.

Search thread for s3 buying guide,

No your exhaust will not fit it!

And I would always choose and s3 over an a3 personally but some prefer the a3........

If they are rare where you are the I would pick the s3 , just check it hasn't been smashed up or crashed or finance owed on it ect....

Are parts hard to source for S3's over in Denmark?

Exhaust won't fit, due to S3 being a quattro. 200k km is around 125k miles, which isn't too bad. Need to listen for knocking noises, I'd recommend you change the oil pick up if it hasn't been done yet. Common issues are MAF sensors, coolant temp sensors and boost leaks with the age of these cars, nothing that can't be fixed to be honest. Other issues would be similar to your A3.

No, S3 parts are not hard to come by at all, the car itself is just rarely seen, so quite often they are kind of overpriced.

Also, from that sticky thread, i cant figure out if the car is facelift or not. It has some of the facelift options like illuminated vents and so on, but the s3 badge is on the speedometer, and not the revmeter.

Also, where is the cupholder, this is crucial :D

It's pre facelift mate, I've never seen a car so in need of rear wheel spacers!

No cup holder on pre-facelifts.

Technically they do have cup holders on pre facelift models cos theres some on the glovebox lid :D

Only good for a supersize maccy ds drink if your driving at any rate of speed tho cos a can of pop say would just fall over.

Pre-facelift interiors much better and durable compared to the facelift ones, which seem to all have problem with wear on buttons etc on climate control. personally I'd always go for an S3 over a A3 as I love the looks of ther S3 and the fact you get a lot more goodies in the form of quattro, recaros, big bumpers etc etc etc. And you get a cup holder in the centre arm rest if your lucky enough to have one.
