overheating front wheel

hi

i just arrived home from work and when i got out my car i noticed my front passenger wheel was smoking

i touched the alloy and it was hot but behind that was all to hot to touch

i heard a small noise when i was braking at one point but nothing major

also i wasn't braking heavily either

anyone know what this could be?

if this is the case is this an easy fix or would this need to be put into a garage to get sorted

Possibly a seized calliper or might possibly be a seized wheel bearing but you would have noticed the wheel bearing being a big pink fluffy marshmellow before it got to the point of seizing.

Depends how mechanically minded you are...and what tools you have.

Very least would be jack up, confirm that wheel is hard to spin. Then remove wheel, inspect pads and disc for wear, unbolt caliper and remove pads, if this free off the wheel (disc) your problem lies here. Either pads jammed in carrier, so would be hard to remove them. Piston could siezed, sliders on carrier could be siezed, or less likely, flexi can collapse not allowing pressure to escape from caliper.
