Hi,
My clutch has just started slipping in 4th above 3k RPM so it is time to change it.
What options have I got a replacement kit?
Iv read that people are converting to solid mass flywheels, what is the reason for this and advantages/ disadvantages?

Its a 1999 pre facelift 1.8t agu engine
if anybody could suggest a kit or the parts in need and where to get them that would be awesome.
Cheers Tony

you can get a g60/vr6 conversion for cheap.

i got my flywheel for £10 and the vr6 clutch kit for 150

the rest is labour. it feels so much better than standard clutch. do it! :D

get an ABF flywheel from a breakers TJ, centre bolts and pressure plate bolts for the same from audi or TPS, and an LUK VR6 clutch kit from GSF for £90.

Should cost you well under sub £200 all in, and gives a lighter pedal feel, and a clutch capable of withstanding 300bhp / 300lbft. More than you'll ever need :)

Hi, will this be the same for a BAM engine

no mate, I'm afraid not.

5 speed agu engines have an 02J box, and a 228mm clutch setup.

6 speed BAM engines have an 02M box, and a 240mm clutch setup, and a different style of slave cylinder also. sorry!

Like prawn said, I payed 5 times that for the same sort of thing, there is slightly cheaper options tho if you want it to handle bigger power, (as in what I paid)

When my clutch is due, I'm going for tuffty's set up. Sach's paddle clutch, oem plate and fly (I think). Seems pretty decent!

How are these?

I am sure there are better options, feel free to point me in the right direction. Cheers.

To be honest mate the top one could be similar to mine (other than the duel mass) and the bottom make (tecknithingey) I've never really heard good things said about them but that's just the impression I've got, mine is http://www.sachsperformance.com/Sac...rmance-Clutch-Kit-One-Mass-Flywheel::156.html

The next thing up from my kit is with the sach paddle instead of the organic (the same one that tuffet runs with a duel and standard pressure plate I think?)

Either the first or second link. Most go for the Sachs. You don't exactly need the Kevlar

Evening :)
rather that start a new thread , I'm bumping this one :0
my agu's dual mass is making some nasty noises so its smf time :)
im going to go the vr6 route but need to know what in earth a "ABF" flywheel is ?
Also is it a golf or corrado clutch kit I need if they are different ?
Lastly I realise I need bolts too so which ones ? Vr6 pressure and what flywheel ones ?
Cheers baz :)

abf is the enigne in the mk3 2.0gti, fantastic motor off topic, the car in genreal about as fast as a 1.8t!

any way flywheel bolts and pressure plate bolts from a abf too. the bolts on the dmf are longer

least you aug (8l) guys dont need to have the flywheel machined :( extra £80 on top!

Basil, just wanted to make clear its the 16v fly you want, which differs from the 2.0 8v gti setup.

Ive also got an1994 aug ,clutch has gone, I was woundering would the fly wheel fit or would it need modifing to fit
Cheers liam

Sorry to be blunt but reread the first post and then the posts following

you will see the op has a 1999 preface lift agu engines a3 and as said those clutch arrangements fit with no changes to other compnents are required
