Mine is at about 800 rpm, to me it does sound a bit on the fast side. Whats yours? or what should it be?

Should drop slightly when the engine has warmed up, maybe 50rpm or so? Mine sits at about 850-900rpm when cold and 775-825rpm when warmed up.

Sounds about right though. I think you can adjust the idle speed on VCDS... but I'm not 100% on that

Cheers guys, mine must be right then

Mine on a 3.0 TDi A6 (same engine) can be 1000 rpm when really cold/first start of the day, then gradually drops as car warms...

When warm/not cold outside temps will be around 800rpm...

I think you can adjust the idle speed on VCDS... but I'm not 100% on that

Anyone got info on this please?

I have an issue which has got right on my wick! it is an idle hunt/flutter its not just the needle it is the engine... it happens just after crank finish of engine, initially for a moment the engine is smooth then it go nuts!

It has been suggested to me an idle increase at startup may help..

I've DIY done:-

Full set of injectors, MAF, Throttle body, Battery, full service...
EGR inlet into charge air decoked, EGR valve/cooling flap been vacuum tested/MVB 03 done(visual/decoke soon to be done)...

I've had done:-

Full set of chains & tensioners, Tiptronic oil change, Last rev of engine ECU software done...

Soon to be done is Ins.cluster flash to last rev of SW as TPI/TSB suggest bad comms between engine & ins.cluster with SW I currently have (should also give me digi.speedo in DIS :) ) ...

Sorry OP for hi-jack ... I have no fault codes to go by :( ... fuel pressure/rail/pump MVB look good as well...

Could be manifold flaps or air in the fuel line if its a derv.

Fuel lines air free... the clear section of fuel line to the HPFP pump is always full and bubble free...
Lower/upper intake manifolds will soon be decoked but no faults checked visually and VCDS test of MVB/actuations...

I will leave posting in this thread now unless someone give info on idle adjustment...

Going to MRC tuning soon to see if they can diagnose anything...

Mine is the same, about 800 RPM, I always thought it seemed a little high but it is the average
