I was lucky enough to win an 8p cruise control stalk from a 2009 A3 on ebay last week. for 99p!!

I fitted it this weekend.. not too difficult. then recoded the engine and steering wheel in VCDS, and it works!

I didnt have the lower steering cowel.. so I modified the old one with a holesaw, luckily I had one exactly the right size.

You can barely tell its not a factory part.

So I'm pretty happy, cruise control fitted and working for 99p!

...last thing I want to read after spending £100 for the bits and fitting it this weekend! lol lets just say I have some impolite words for you right now haha.

Bargain!

I not sure on Cruise Control, had it on a hire car a while back and used it for a while on a 200 mile mostly motorway trip & found that I was constantly adjusting the speed due to traffic. Not sure it's that suited to the UK roads, but having said that I only had the car for a few hours!

Perfect for average speed cameras and built up areas with 30/40 limits.

At least you know you're not going to get a flash from a speed camera !

Dont get me wrong, I can see its uses, just maybe I need longer with it!

It's also that feeling of driving with just one hand effectively!

I think the latest Merc's (possible Audi too) will keep 20 meters from the car in front. So if you set the Cruise control at 70, and the car in front slows down to 60, your car will slow down too. Keeping a 20 meter gap between you. Then when they speed up, or pull off, you will return to 70.

Dont think there is much chance of retro-fitting this though!

Bargain! Wish I could find the part for 99p :(

I have cruise control in my 04 a3 and i have never managed to the damn thing to work!pulled pushed and whacked it in all directions and nothing. Have given up in it now.

Good bargain for you though mate.

has it been coded in correctly or wired in for that matter? VCDS will tell you why it's not working

I am guessing that it is factory fitted but to be honest i am not sure. I will have to try and find someone with VCDS.

just had all mine coded along with MFSW must say it is worth it. Didnt get it for 99p tho!!! Jammy g*t!!!

That's called adaptive cruise control. Only on the 8v and newer cars.

Based in thr kendal/carnforth/lancaster/morecambe area. There is a member not to far from me but due to work patterns we could never meet uo.

If you can't find anyone I'm in Lancaster next month and can bring VCDS with me.

You are most probably the same knob jockey neighbour who moans about everyone down your street, what's it like to be so perfect?

not at all mate, my street is quite perfect already so no moaning needed :)
also you clearly misunderstood the post i wrote where I wrote in plain English that its rude to hijack another thread. You could always just have started your own thread asking the question.

Anyway I'm not offended 1 bit by your teenage outburst but I will say that giving attitude on this forum will just result in getting attitude back.

plus that link I posted would have got you more answers then you would have got asking here so maybe you should go and try it?

Anyway lets not waste anymore oxygen than you have, suffice to say your definition of thread hijacking somewhat differs to mine. A current example here on CAI's ive started a new thread for this very reason.
Your hair trigger reaction to thread hijacking is somewhat 'over zealous' which i guess is understandable as this seems to be your default domain for social interaction.
I reserve the right to make teenage outburts where i see appropriate. I stopped 'growing up' when i was about 16 isn't that normal?

what is wrong with you?

"as this seems to be your default domain for social interaction."
you dont know me so stop making assumptions and stupid comments!

stop being so childish and sore and just go and search for the answer!

You couldn't help yourself could you, hmm... on the other hand perhaps more pertinent to how i percieve you.

You're an admin lead by example. If i was you, id just delete all this crap, including yours, strip it back to the original discussion, as in your eyes i clearly was 'hijacking' the op discussion about cruise control actuators for a 2009 8p. Er with my question about Cruise control actuator with a researched and supplied part number list supplied by myself for a possible slightly different model 2009 8p?

Google pedantic.

I could help myself but as several members of this forum have reported you for your crappy attitude we admin needed to address the issue.
I didn't say you were hijacking the thread, I really couldn't give a crap about your research into cruise control actuators. I removed your post where you insulted another member on here as that was what was reported.

Google get your facts right.

Amen to that 'cept I spent several hundreds with local non-main dealer Audi specialist.
