Meet anyone?.

Hi guys..

Right I'm fairly new to ASN and I thought I'd test the water to see if any other north east members would be interested in a meet?.
Ive got a few ideas where/what we can do. Could just have a local meet and have abit of scran and get to no eachother.
Or we could do all of the above and make a day of it I.e go over to the lakes or a ride down to Whitby.?
i know it's not my place to organise meets, days out, etc.. But it would be nice to meet other north east members :) What's your thoughts?

Looks like we've got abit of interest with this one then :) what would you fancy doing then?.. Would ya like to meet up and have abit of crack and stay in that location.? Or would you want to move on and go for a long ride somewhere?
 
Haha the golden rule is that it has to include food ha! Ermm right.. Well here's two ideas I've got.. We can meet up at various service stations depending on where people are from.. Then go to either Tan hill inn (highest pub in England and is approximately just short of an hour from scotch corner) or go to Whitby magpie cafe which is approximately an hour and a half from teeside park
 
You've never been to Whitby?. I must of been 1,000,000 times haha. Tan hill is a great drive like its a single track road right up to the inn. You can open up the taps ocasionally but thats up to you as theres sheep hovering about and the occasional biker. I did the same drive with a friend in the summer but we went over heart side pass on the way then headed east at Penrith and up to tan hill.
 
Haha nope, I'm 21 before my A3 I had a 1.2 Clio I couldn't keep up with the 172s :( so I didn't bother.

il just follow the crowd I don't mind :) iv heard of heart side wouldn't mind doing that one then over to tan hill like you said

Paul, this section is for all members, if you want to organise a meet, please just go right ahead. This section is for anyone to suggest/organise a meet. Its all about meeting others local to you. :) x

haha yeah I see your point. I'm 22 like this is my second A3. I had a silver 54 reg 2.0 tdi before.


Yeah heart side is a fantastic route theres heart side cafe at the top of the pass which is canny, just have to watch the other side of Alston as mr plod likes to sit around there in a blind summit with his speed gun! We need to sort out a date and get as many people going :)

Thanks for the invite Paul, but im in Scotland, bit far to travel at this time of the year with the weather being what it is. :) x
 
Scotland isn't that far away Sandra, you could easily pop along.

Il do any weekend not to bothered, could do start of march. would of just been paid so lots of diesel in the tank and gives people a few weeks to put their name down
 
Haha yeah it's not to far. The first weekend in march does sound good :) I hope we get a few people to pop along as its a hell of a drive!!
 
means il have to try keep the car clean, it better not snow again.

Would it be best to start a new thread, now we have a weekend and where we are going or just keep it all going in this one?
 
Haha well I washed and waxed mine last Saturday and it was a total waste of time as its pitted again.. We are forecast snow on Wednesday haha!

Erm.. Well to be honest I thought this was where you organised meets/drives but it seems there's only us to that's spotted it haha
 
It was meant to snow last night but it didnt, i dont believe the weather reports.

It's meant to be the place but it seems a bit dead for our section :( or im just really sad and keep checking it all the time and other people have a life :p

How long would the drive take? best time to meet and where?

Meet definitely sounds like a good idea. I like the idea of Tan Hill too. What date would be best for everyone? Once we've got a date in mind I'll create a new thread with the details and we can go from there.

I'm thinking a Sunday?

How about i promise to come to one of your meets in the summer Jonny, maybe we could even do a north east/ scotland meet, that could be good. Us lot up here dont mind the travel. Something to think about. :) x

I was looking at the Scotland section last week, if there was one close to the boarder I'd come along

I'm going to be greedy and be in both groups :)

as for dates, the Sunday would probably be best so I can clean the car on Saturday :)

Yea seems to be a few interested now :) Sunday if everyone else is ok with that, I can do either one over the weekend so im not to bothered.

yea best to meet at the service station to top up the tank :)
 
Which Sunday are u planning to go if it's the 3rd of march I can't make that it's my wedding anniversary so dont think the wife would be best impressed.
I'm up for any other time appart from then and this Sunday. my cars will probs look like sheds amongst urs but it's the taking part that counts lol

if the Sundays no good then how about the saturday if its ok with everyone else!

na mate your car won't look like a shed at all! Mines covered in stone chips seen as a gritted decided it didn't like my car :/
 
Ah I work Saturdays if there is not slot happening at work I'll be able together away it just depends what's on. If I can't do the ill make sure I make the next meet

Haha predictive text is a killer! If Saturday is no good is there a specific day/date which suits you as we want to include as many people as possible :)

here's a random question but.. How does everyone like to drive when they are in a "convoy" to a specific meet? Just the last meet I went to was with north east modified and there was 10 of us traveling to hull and the lead car sat at 55mph all the way!! I nearly fell asleep a few times haha
