hi guys my audi is a 2006 56 plate, and was wandering when did audi bring out the new updated steering rack?

There have been 3 racks, gen 1, 2 & 3, not sure of dates but you'd need part number to verify the gen version & possibly an adapter loom to use the newer versions, depending on whats fitted to your car now.
cheers.....where do i find part no.? lol. could i replace a gen 2 with a gen 3? iv told the garage i got the car from its faulty and there basically saying its a characteristic of the car, and it had an MOT put on so it must be ok!! so not sure if iv got much hope of getting it changed by them...
Reliability for a start, think they discovered over time some flaws that needs resolving, as never known one large/expensive part to be stocked so much as a rack for an 8P.
yeam mines a 2006, get knocking and squeeking from the wheel, indy garage i bought it took it to THEIR mechanic who said it was fine and the car has an MOT!! took it to audi spesh, who spent an hour looking, and said its the steering rack....now all i need to do is get the garage i bought it from to sort it...seeing as i only bought it end of december.

I installed a GEN3 rack and wiring loom to my 2007 S3 last month. Such a difference and I can finally enjoy driving my car again!!

Think around £960 for rack, bolts and loom from Agnew Audi, Belfast and got £156 for my old rack when I returned it.
