Picked up my 2010 S3 on Saturday

Nice one and I have his details as I have the receipt for when the car was bought :) I think I'll try and get in touch.
I did the very same thing after buying my S3 as there were a few blanks the dealer could'nt fill in.
Previous owner could'nt have been more helpful..

I have done it before and got the same result as you, a very helpful previous owner. Just spoke to Audi Halesowen and they couldn't of been more helpful. A tech is coming out with me Sat morning to see the issue and then it is booked in 7th Feb to have the issue resolved.

I agree about the car not looking fast, the video wasn't done on a flat which doesn't help. Would the SPS show if any remap has been done or just REVO remaps?

Just REVO I'm affraid but good starting point, VCDS will give us more info reg the engine/turbo issue if related.

Ok thanks a lot, i'm going to see what Audi say on Saturday and go from there. If there isn't a map on there at the moment there will be in a few months :)

It is shocking and I'm just glad I know it's wrong or I could be an S3 and large legal bill down. I'm under the Audi free 7 day insurance at the moment so when I call to switch over my insurance i'll tell them about it.

Overall dealing with Audi Tamworth has been a nightmare, being lied to about them fixing an issue, this exhaust issue, delaying the collection of the car and lots of other little things which I won't get into. Just glad I love the car so much or I would be annoyed.

This isn't uncommon unfortunately. I had similar issues with getting my used A3 from another dealer. Although they did put everything right, it's what you've got to go through to get to that point which is annoying when you have forked out the kind of money these Audi's cost. Unfortunately they think that most people are stupid and won't notice these things or are too scared to do anything about it.

Perservere with it and you'll get what you want...eventually!

Good luck

The head tech was a complete waste of time and to say he felt the fault and he had fixed it when it was no different was clearly a load of rubbish. At least I don't have to deal with Audi Tamworth again and Halesowen have been more than helpful.

This is the reason I have bought a VCDS cable and now pee on Audi dealers, they can stick up the warranty up their fat .......

So you can run a custom map but then flash it back to stock for when the car is in with Audi?

If all else fails, Midland VW are supposed to be the best Audi / VW related. They are authorised by Audi to. I hear nothing but praise for them

I took the car to Audi Halesowen yesterday and the head tech was meant to come out with me but was too busy so another tech drove the car. As you only really notice the issue at full throttle he tried to say it wasn't an issue as you wouldn't notice it in daily driving to which I replied it's an S3 so I'd like it to be right at full throttle. He eventually acknowledged the issue was there and said it would be very difficult to track down as the gearbox is very complex. I explained I didn't think it was an issue with the gearbox but he knows more than me. Dropped the dump valve idea out there and he said there is no way it would be that. The car is booked in Thursday so I guess I'll know more then. Not looking that positive at the moment though.

Also I've noticed after a few comments on here that my car does have 1cm spacers all around which explains why I get tyre rub on hard corning and over speed bumps. I'm guessing the bolts used with them will be 1cm longer so I'll need to buy standard bolts to remove them? Tempted to speak to the dealer as I was never told about the spacer and don't want them on the car.

Thanks, Oli

****** Audi dealers always know best. I'd rather pay someone to make things right sometimes as the service from Audi you get is just rubbish. They do whatever possible to send you off without doing any work. So disappointing.

Feel for you buddy, especially when you just bought your new car and having all this issues, as I said happy to do some scanning for you or any other help. Just drop me a pm whenever you interested.

It is getting annoying now but i'm still enjoying my car which is the main thing. I might be PMing you shortly as if they don't come up with anything on Thursday i'm checking the DV and if it has a map or not.

Finally got chance to clean my car :)

Nice..deffo a badboy's car.

Can't beat Black wheels.they will all be having them eventually.

 omg green with envy, some MY11 rear lights would be a nice addiction. Hope you sort everything out mate.

Car looks fantastic mate.
Sorry about all of your problems with the dealer but at least you are still enjoying the new car.

car looks stunning, black cars are hard to keep clean so i got myself a red one :D

Sorry I haven't posted an update in a while.

Long story short Audi Halesowen aren't willing to fix the issues as they believe the car has been remapped badly and that is was is causing the issue. I also got told that the gearbox has had the mechotronics unit replaced twice under warranty.

I then called the sales manager at Audi tamworth to explain everything that had happened with the car and they have offered to replace the car with another S3 of similar spec. Overall I'm well happy with that as this car has clearly had a hard life and after the 12 months warranty is up then I could be in for some very expensive repair bills.

I've been offered a 2010 S3 Black Edition with similar mileage and i'm just awaiting a call back to confirm it has all the spec I want. I'm going to be cheaky and ask for the Milltek to be swapped over as I love the sound. Only thing is the new car is a manual so I'm just deciding if I love the s-tronic enough to stick with it or go back to basics and have a manual again

That's a real shame bud because visually it is a stunning motor! How many miles are on the clock at the moment? Sounds worrying that it has had 2 new mechatronics units, sounds like they never really got to the bottom of the issue, maybe its why the previous owner decided to sell you never know? Such a shame though

Yes I am gutted but happy at the same time I'm not stuck with the car and lots of repair bills in the long. The car had 29k when I picked it up. They are sure the remap is causing the lag problem but other issues with the map have shown through with cold weather running and so on.

Yeah if it's had a map lets face it she's probably had quite a hard life, still it's a shame, keep us updated on what they offer you I'm thinking you could get a bit of compo out of this for all the hassle you've had

Just thinking. I would take the spacers off before trading it as there worth abit and you could put them on your new one :)

They cause the tyres to scrap on the inside of the arch so even though they look good they are practical at all

very happy that audi are sorting this out for you, what colour is the one they have offered you? Sounds like the one you have has had a very bad life or it was a car built on a friday (everyone rushing to get home) :undwech:haha.

with regards to the S-tronic to the Manual the S-tronic is a great bit of kit but when i had one i just didnt feel involved as much with the car so got a manual and never looked back, but if you plan on modding the car the you will have to put away atleast 1k for a new clutch with the manual as the tourqe likes to eat them which is abit of a shame since you would think audi would have designed a uprated one for the S3. But before you get given the car they offer you take it for a 30min drive somewhere to make sure your 100% happy because you are going to keep this car for awhile and dont want to be forced into have a car they have just found and offered you i.e. make sure you have some say in what you get.

but hope everything is sorted out quickly for you and welcome to the S3 club :friends:

I've been reading this thread with interest as I too just recently acquired a 2010 S3 black edition, in black. It's a stunning looking car, even unmodified.

As far as I know, mine is totally stock (I'll get around to posting pics in the pics thread later) but I've also had to get some stuff sorted, mainly parking sensors (I reckon someone used a jet washer on them, as the ring seals are all pushed in) and badly lipped discs.

It's great to hear that the dealer is sorting you out with a replacement of the same/similar spec. I hope it works out and that you'll be posting pics of the new chariot soon! :)

We could have met up half way if that helps, have sps for REVO that could tell if the car using their map or not. Up to you buddy. Wont really take any money of you either.

Your car doesnt look that fast, you can try to check if you have correct DV

By the way Red, while catching up on this thread I followed your link and nigh on broke a woody at the pristine condition of your engine bay! A thing of beauty! :)

I think the one I have has just had a very hard life so even though I love the car I will be gladly to get rid of it. They have offered me a few so far. The main issue Audi have is I got mine fairly cheap considering it was an Audi dealer and the age, mileage and spec so I think they are struggling to match it and not lose money.

2010 Black Edition in Black, Manual, 32K, 3 Door but I'm still waiting to have the spec confirmed.

2009 White 37K with low spec

I'm not 100% sure what are options but I think mine has the following Heated seats, Bose, iPod, Nav, Bluetooth, Cruise Control, DRLs and probably more I don't know about. Has anyone got a list of what options are available on a 2010 S3?

One of the reasons I went for the S-tronic gearbox was in the few Evos I had when I was younger I always burnt through clutches trying to get it off the mark. I do like the s-tronic gearbox but I don't think I'd be any less happy with a manual. I do want to mod the car a little, mainly for a bit of extra power, response and some more noise

I've got a 2010 black edition S3, the S-tronic version, which is pretty much fully specified. If you PM me your email address, I can send you a PDF of my full PR code listing, which has all the spec options with/without listed on it. Can't guarantee it covers everything but it might help!

Sounds like a nice car, I hope I will be posting some pictures up soon as well. If Audi don't sort it by 24th of this month the finance kicks in and things get messy but that is there problem not mine I guess.

Well after today I hope my S3 days will be happy and stress free ones.

The sales guy drove me over a 2011 White Black Edition Manual on 24k to try. After giving it a good run I decided how much I'd missed a manual gear box and decided to go for it :D

I tried to get them to swap over the Milltek from mine but his manager was having none of it as it was the car being modded that caused him all this grief in the first place I guess. I think a good remap and exhaust are going to be the first things I do though :D Spec wise i'm missing cruise control and rear parking sensors but I don't really need either of them and it saves weight I guess :eyebrows:

From my experience with either a black or white car it's hard work to keep them looking good. What clay do you use on yours?

I use the meguiars clay bar, as they're quite mild, and very easy to use and it gets rid of all the crap I've thrown at it.

Apart from stone chips, mines still white as ever.

Every 2 weeks, polish with autoglym super resin, then G3 wax on top, then I use Daemon shine as a quick detailer as it goes for miles and brings it up like a treat.

Ive got about 30 litres of the stuff. Find it really good to use.
