I have a N/A 1.8 99 T reg A4, its got 206k and for the 3 years or more i have owned it (my first Audi) it has NEVER EVER broke down on me, its such a reliable car, no faults.. apart from ABS keeps popping up but thats the rear ABS sensor that i know of which was prolly my own fault, i heated the caliper carrier bolts up to get them off and might have damaged the sensor... or it could be the ring on the disk, one for investigation.

In its MOT's it failed on Emissions 2 years running! so both them cost me £400 and had a cat both times.. this latest one flew through £25! I replaced the lower suspension arms at the front and havent done much more, but im thinking of...

Respraying / Repairing the wheels.. all 5 of them.
Complete rebuild of the Calipers and Spray
Install a IPAD or Android system
Blue LED lights inside
The body work is fine so nowt to do on that

Its the APT Engine and running the VIN number tells me its the 125bhp Engine at 92KW

Would it be worth spending time and money on it or sell and go for a TQS???
How much would mine be worth?
Can i do anything to the Engine to give it more umph even thought its not got a turbo?

I really love the Car and its Reliability, i just dont want to get another for it to need so much £££ spending and forever breaking down on me

What do you guys think?
All comments welcome :)

Oh and can anyone tell me how to make my lights... Brighter!! They are really rubbish, not muc glow on the road unless fully dipped

Most people will say go TQS but if you're happy with the car, stick with it.
No idea what you can do to give it more get up and go.
That's one for 1.8T owners.

Install a IPAD or Android system.
What would you want to achieve from doing this?

Blue LED lights inside
Dash or interior lights?

yeah im stuck between 2 minds on wether to change or not.. first i will refurb the brakes and replace the clutch at least

The Ipad or Android Tab instal would be obviously for music, navigation... it oesnt have to be a 3g one.. i have unlimited internet on my Galaxy Note and it can act as a wifi hotspot ;) so i could connect the Android tab to it for the internet

The other side of it was using it with a Bluetooth OBD2 device to get this
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.prowl.torque&hl=en

These are the adaptors
Bluetooth Adapters - Torque OBD2 Wiki

I might even make a slot in there for my Galaxy Note.. its big enough and with 11Gig instaled and an 8gig Mem card theres plenty of room on it.

What do u think of the adaptors / app? i know you like your gadgets lol

The Blue LED lights would be Interior ones.. if i can do the dash with them them maybe that too.. but Blue and Orange maybe... can they be changed?

The app and adaptors are really good for logging and checking fault codes.
Used it my shelf.

You can change the orange to blue if you're handy with a soldering iron and has a a steady hand.

Could be... haha... i did that to mine... oh and set it on fire :asskicking:

Unfortunately, not a great deal you can do with the 1.6 or 1.8 NA lumps really...

that sensor ring thats on the disk could be the issue though.. i hope.. as i did take a large flat headed screw driver to it just to make the slots free from rust then a wire brush... maybe removing the corrosion made the holes bigger thus giving a bad reading?? i'd like to think so anyway haha.. time will tell when i remove the bearings again

hmm nothing :( thats pants. so all i can do is tart it up a bit and fix it when it goes wrong.... Time to rethink my love for the car!

I do like the look of them apps, and read a few other threads on them fitted into audi's and they look quite smart, wonder if them adaptors work with VCDS too? got bluetooth on me laptop

yeah got quite a steady hand, i've reballed a few PS3's and fixed many a XBOX 360 lol. Got all the tools needed for the LED work, just have to take the unit out again and see whats needed i suppose. Maybe a new thread coming :hubbahubba:
Anyone have the wiring diagrams for the cluster?

If the rest of the car is solid, do an engine swap. Plenty of 1.8t lumps around to be had cheap...

The Bluetooth units wont work with VCDS.

Don't do the wheels black, looks like steel wheels and don't suit the car, personally. :)

Slap in 1.8T lump with a few choice mods.

Ok so whats involved in a 1.8T swap? Obviously everything should be the same size so just literally an engine swap, but what else?

Exhaust, ECU, Fuel pump... ?

Could be a nice project if i could find the right donor. But before it went in, maybe new piston rings, seals all round, belts..
And detail the engine :) lmao

This swap could get huge, might aswell get a new car :(

DO NOT do an engine swap. Complete waste of time and effort.

Sell it and buy a TQS, its just better in every imaginable way.
