After having problems with my 1.8T idling from 800 to 2000rpm and revving on it's own I did some research and thankfully got pointed in the right direction from the loyal Audi-sport members, found out I needed to buy a crankcase breather and pressure regulating valve. My fuel economy was terrible, boost seemed poor and driving the car was really starting to p*ss me off. Picked my parts up from Audi this morning, took the car to Honda where my mate had a free couple hours and got some bits done, dropped oil and changed filter, changed fuel filter and filled up with optimax, fitted a panel air filter after much consideration about an iduction kit, replaced cabin filter, fitted ngk platinum plugs, new coolant/anti freeze. after service parts were done we fitted the crankcase breather (old one was in a state!) then fitted pressure regulating valve, also fitted 2 new coils as I had missfire on cylinder 3 and 4 fault codes. After everything was fitted removed all fault codes and took it for a drive...... The outcome was amazing!! The car has never felt so quick since ive owned it! Really did put a smile on my face, it runs perfect, no engine management light and a great increase in boost! Productive day :)

Good work. It really it a joyous moment when a bit of research and elbow grease pays off. Forums like this are an absolute gem, I dread to think how much labour I've saved over the years DIYing my cars. Just today I refurbed and fitted a rear caliper on my other half's 306. A new caliper would have been £120 plus £30-40 fitting. Kit was £27 for all seals + a few hours of my time and bingo.

Well done fella!

Audi wanted 300 notes for a service, 45 quid for the 2 valves and a connector, 85-90 for fitting the valves then god knows how much for plugging it up to a diagnostic machine. This forum helps no end for problem solving, I've had mechanics tell me it will 100 % be the MAF sensor at fault and idle control valve! Glad I did some research now, cost me 100 quid for everything including bits from Audi then 20 quid to my mate at Honda for his help and equipment.

Seing as though I've saved a couple hundred quid I'm tempted to get an exhaust system... :)

Do it and get a remap too :racer:...

looked into getting a remap, so many companies to choose from... some claiming 15bhp gains and some around 30bhp. how much of a difference did yours make?

Stage 1 which is just a map, new dv and maybe a panel filter will get you to about 210bhp, really does make a massive difference, and is worth every penny. Stage 2 your looking at 235 but that needs full exhaust, high flow cat, TIP etc.... A lot of money but you can feel the difference im gonna get a few more horses out of mine with a front mount and a few tweaks on the map and then that's it...
