Hi,

So have extensively Googled and have read;

http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/a4-s4-forum-b5-chassis/107121-un-sticking-your-tdi-vnt-turbo-vanes.html

But my engine layout looks a little different to that posted. Posed with my can of Mr Muscle and tubing after regular limp modes on my 190,000 miled car so I wondered whether some could give me a little advise based on the attached labelled picture from my engine bay?

AUDI A4 TDI ENGINE LABELLED

Thanks

Steve

I have no idea what engine this is, however......

'A' is your turbo inlet. You do NOT want to put the Mr Muscle here.

'E' looks like the exhaust side of your EGR (D), this would be one place to feed the pipe - as per the write-up.

I personally (on a 2.5TDi) unbolted the exhaust from the turbo (brown part across from 'A', underneath 'C') and fed the pipe direct into the hot section (turbine). This made it much easier to see where the Mr Muscle went as opposed to guessing where the pipe was. I mentioned this in a reply to Evil Scotsmans thread.

'C' looks like your EGR actuator. It would be good for you to find the Turbo VNT actuator, which looks similar to 'C', but has a link connecting it to the hot section of the turbo. This link is what you move up and down with the Mr Muscle in the turbine.

Somebody else more knowledgeable may come along with better information than me.

Thanks Paul, yes that would be useful info: so this is a 1996 Audi A4 - saloon - 1.9 TDi (the 90 BHP model). Not an import of any kind as far as I'm aware (is RHD in any case).

So yes and one with info on this exact model would be great. I'll take a look underneath that as photographed to see if I can see turbo VNT actuator.

don't suppose you have pics for the 2.5tdi.. (same as my car) so i can carry this out, i've been wanting to do this for a few weeks, but keep making excuses..... i also have an EGR blanking plate (off the BAY of E). and would like to know where to fit it...

'96 90hp has a wastegated turbo, there is no VNT.
