Hi all I have a 2007 S3 and i love the car but its driving me a little mad with a boot leak!

heres the facts-
Just the boot floor is getting wet, not the carpet, side walling or the boot plastic
My washer jets were blocked.... This has been resolved and they work fine... I take it water comes out as the wiper goes side to side?
The washer jets are not blocked as i removed the little 2 pin washer jet and soaked it for 3 days to remove dirt.
I have now just poured water all over the back of the car-no leak
I have cleared the drain hole from the fuel filler hole and tested with water- works fine.
Grommits look ok.... Dry!
Roof lining is dry

Only thing i havint done is drove it with my brother in the boot and a torch to find a leak!

Any advice would be sound!!!

ps- just fitted MY09 rear lights but this is AFTER the leaking problem!

Car is currently like a van.... Totally stripped with seats down!

I had a little leak which I only noticed this morning. Yesterday i replaced the rear washer jet due to it being blocked. This seems to have made my rear motor decide **** rusty water all down the boot trim.

Only reason i noticed this is because my alarm went off last night, and this morning the DIS was telling me my boot was open. Once i took the boot trim off i seen that there was rusty looking water all inside the lining. Cleaned it all out and now waiting on a new motor :(

Could try this? Mine was dripping from both the motor and the connection pipe for washer fluid.

I sprayed the washer jet and then waited for a leak... Nothing from the boot trim either...! I popped the 2 screws off and removed most of the trim with no signs of water or water pouring down the boot trim :(

Something to do with washer jet I think when it pauses before water comes out.. Anybody have a guide on where the water pipes run through before going in boot?

The washer feed pipe goes behind the driver side boot lining and there is a joint which just happens to be above the convenience module ! On my sportback the joint had split apart due to freezing and subsequently spewed water all over the module and down into the spare wheel well.

In your case, if the washer is still working a bit, albeit after a delay, this joint may be leaking and causing the problem.

The rest of the pipe runs at low level along the door sill line.

My Bose unit is on the passenger side boot lining......so do I have to remove all the padding from the boot lining above the wheel arch on the drivers side?

I am pretty confident it is not coming from the actual boot door plastic lining as there is no water or rust behind this plastic cover.

I shall take a look asap then and maybe look for a guide to direct me in the right direction to obtain this bust pipe!!

Yes, you have to remove the boot lining and padding on the drivers side.

There isn't a guide to doing this as it's a 'suck it and see' situation where you adapt as you go along. Took me a long time to actually get to the pipe joint.

Anyway, at least you have an answer to your thread !

Says to remove the rear seat bench? I am hoping I can just stick my hand in and feel where its coming from to be honest!! Not looking to remove roof lining if I do not have to....fingers crossed hey

Sorry mate - no chance ! Is yours a sportback ? On mine I had to remove the rear part of the roof lining because the side panel which you have to remove is tucked well in behind it. I did not have to remove the seat bench.

The pipe join in mine is approx 6 inches (150mm in new money ) below the rear shelf level and tucked right back about 4-5 inches inside the panel and into the rear quarter panel !

Many scraped knuckles and back of hands I'm afraid.

Its a 3 door S3 mate! Ok cool, I shall proceed with the removal.....could always remove a panel a day and carry on driving the car ! haha

I have spent a few hours on this and found that a grommet in the right hand side of the boot was loose....so I have replaced and will keep an eye but there is also water collecting around the seals of the black cover on the right hand side of the boot that requires a special hex tool to remove. Can somebody tell me what this is and how water is getting in through the seals of it? Fuel tank cover maybe?

Cheers
