Hey Peeps I currently have a set of AP coilovers fitted to my S3 8L, Im really happy with the drive I get from the coilovers, which feels better then stock to me but my dilemma is that I cant get the rear any lower, I have removed the adjusters as well. Is there an alternative route to lowering the rear, has anyone had success with this? Been doing some searching with regards to the AP coilovers and how low people have managed to go with them, On some threads they have mentioned that they will try source a set of FK springs for the rear... But no update on the thread. Sidey Mentioned that there is a possibility that the stock rear ARB links my be restricting the rear from going lower... I cant find the thread he was refering to. Can one perhaps try compress the rear springs? Im looking for another 10-15mm on the rear. Bumpstops will still allow for 20mm before they touch. Cheers

No clue why its changing my output and grouping all my wording together o_O

theres some 35mm lowering rear springs on ebay at the moment, just a thought..

i had the same with my APs:
so i went from this:

which was sitting too high. to this:
PA070141.jpg

which now sits perfectly.

what do you have still on there? get a pic

that picture you want it like is danes old car, and i hate to tell you this but its photoshopped :(

what you need good sir is air, no coil over will give you that without serious modding. sorry bro

p.s. i reckon my car sits just as low at the back as yours with it setup as pictured

bwhahahahahaha, I am chasing dreams then... Dam you Adobe PS!!!

Then Ill have to go 19's. Thanks for the input Karl :D!

search for sandip on here. his car has APs on it, and he swapped the rear springs for some others, apex rings a bell, and he had it sitting much better.
he runs 18s and 19s and its prob the nicest looking S3 out there imo. its daily driven tho so its not mega low, but his stance is awesome im sure you'l agree if you can find some pics.

Is that the 3.2 blue s3? He never changed his springs, that was the thread I was refering to hehe!

Like already said whole adjuster out, there's a plastic 2mm pad where the springs sit on,ive removed that also,if you have adjustable rear tie rod bar's you can create a lower look to the wheel, don't go mad with the camber though, spaceing the wheel's out,you make it closer to the arch (or wider wheel's),all way's of creating a lowwer look, what width j are your rear wheel's?

are your springs on upside down? might not be but looks like they don't sit correct in the cups, if they was the other way round I think they would..

with mine I got a insert for the bottom of the springs which you can see in the picture attached.

My wheels all round are 9J et52 with adapters.

I have ET22 front and ET27 Rear.

right way up. in those pics the spring isnt under load (car jacked up), i can wiggle spring around in those pics, so no, not seated.

WHAT THE ACTUAL ****

p.s. no i didnt put those gay plastic things on. the cars trailing arm already has a rubber version of that which can be seen in my pics.

Karl can only dream of getting the respect and recognition I get; consider that a taste of what will come if you start being nicer to people :p

Haha!

Cut the springs, job done.

Was going to say, the spring looks ****** in the first photo. It's not centered. Not ideal :/

Mine with just spring in low as it will go.on 18s

they are 18".

Just to clarify, I was adding Jardo on Facebook while replying to the thread, so honestly I was not thinking clearly when replying on the thread after adding Jardo... Didnt know it would cause such a stir.

id say go 19's,feel the arch's more, you'll never fill the arch's,just lay the body low.

Ye I put my current wheels up forsale, 19's would be the better choice over cutting the spring lol.

Thanks Liquid S3. :)

@limbo118118 - Where did you source just the rear FK's mate? It looks awesome with the FK's in the rear!!

Welcome back dan. Hope the vdub is treatin you well.

I txt sandip earlier but didnt get a response :(

Cheers Karl.
You might have a old number or something, ill get you his number and pm you .

Yeah the R is awesome! :)
But i have this exact problem with the R now. As i did with the S3. haha. The back sits too high!
I havnt taken the adjuster out yet but even after that i dont think it will go low enough.
So if anyone comes up with a spring alternative then i would be very greatful ;)

I emailed a guy on ebay selling who sets. He said if he was ever seperating a set or wateva hed let me know then a week later he mailed me saying he had a set! :)
