Hi all, my cambelt is due for a change in 4k miles. Just wondering what I should be expecting to pay. I'd rather get it done at my Audi dealer but if people could give me an idea of what they have been quoted or what they've paid already, either Audi or independent. Let me know.

Check with your dealer, some have fixed price servicing

I went in for a quote today. Local dealer said £546.67 in vat for cambelt and water pump.

£6.54 and a pack of chewits.

Come on fella, it's on the Audi site and has been asked on here countless times. AUDI "AFFORDABLE SERVICING"

The price on the site DOESN'T include the price for them to change the water pump aswell, if i remember correctly I was quoted an extra £70-£100 extra for them to change the water pump.

A decent Indy/specialist prices for full kit and water pump are less than dealers by far. You would have to do some calling around specialists near you.

Local indy here is about £330 incl genuine Audi parts for pulleys, water pump, aux belt and VAT.

I just got my S3 serviced-
timing chain, water pump, major service, brake fluid, Haldex done for £650 at VW
Audi in Edinburgh quoted me £980 for all that....

I had a complete cam belt fitted on Wednesday complete with new tensioner s and water pump and fluid change. Total bill was £285.00 plus the vat. My car is a 2007 s3

My car is now 5 years old and i just got a flyer through the door from Audi offering a cambelt change for £419.

Amd do a fixed price cambelt and waterpump service, £312

Cambelt and water pump at an indy should be £350 max.

Won't be geniune parts, ordered myself a set yesterday and trade price came to £247 for cambelt kit, water and aux belt and tensioner. Unless the aren't in the business of making money they are using pattern parts.

Seems suspiciously cheap tbh...although I checked the price of chewits and they have gone up a lot since I was a kid!!!

Yeah, seems to be a lot of different prices in this thread though.

And this is why I asked here, to get the real skinny on costs, not what the Audi website tells me :)

Yeah, it is tempting but I'd rather keep my full Audi SH. I've been stung by shoddy work from an independent before, there may be a few good ones out there but there's a whole heap of cowboys too.

Thanks folks, I've enough to go on for now. Will make a few calls to various Audi dealerships and see what they have to say.

My local vag specialist did the whole cambelt kit & waterpump for £360 ( genuine audi parts )

I had mine done at Doncaster Audi a couple of months ago. Initially quoted fixed £479 for the belt and extra £80 for water pump.

A little bartering later, they took £420 all in. Always worth getting local quotes for comparison to start negotiating with them....

Been told that water pump not really need on tdi only petrol engines!
this was from an Audi specialist in reading!

paid £360 for mine all in! Luckily aux belt had seen better days and had cracks along the groves, how it didn't snap is beyond me!

Audi sunderland wanted £430 for my dads 2006 2.0 tdi 140 + £48 if he wanted water pump changing !
So £478 total cos water pump is a defo change with belt !!

I'm going to call them in the week to get a price for the same on an A4 2.0 TFSi

I think I'll do a bit of calling around, shame as they are only 3 minutes from home.

It will be the same probably. IIRC £429 fixed for cambelt on 2.0l+ and over 3 years. The rest is water pump at about £40, special magic Audi coolant for £30 odd and the rest is labour.
