I got my a3 8p last week and it got dock in the glove box instead of the 6 cd changer the only thing Is when I plug me iphone4 in then start driving it wobbly out of the plug and stop playing. Iv got a little bag of plastic bits but none of them seem to fit and make the phone not wobbly can anyone help me with this. Is there something I can buy from audi to stop this.

You should buy the ipod lead that has a socket & plug, so you can lay the iphone in the glovebox somewhere & the lead plugs into the ipod dock & other end into iphone, saves it disconnecting & moving about.

Ebay is your best bet.

Yes for sure a much better option :)

I doubt that theres a bracket available for snugly fitting an iPhone 4 - the dock connector predates such new technology! It won't charge an iPhone 4 either without a 3rd party adapter inline with the connection. As NHN says -what you ideally need is a dock extension cable that can plug into the socket and allow the iPhone to run free...

Audi Music Interface

Allows ipod, iphone, usb drive to connect to mk2 rns-e to access music properly with artist, album, track info.

Are one of you guys able to supply some more detailed info on AMI please? What does it stand for (Audi Music Interface?) Is it a software or hardware upgrade? Who supplies it, where and for how much? I like many others, could really do with something like AMI, from the sounds of what's being said here, so would really appreciate the info

Its a hardware upgrade that slots in the same hole that a the glovebox cd changer sits in - are we talking A3 or A4 as your car? Has to plug into a MK2 RNS-E to work (as NHN says above) - and depending on what cable you choose to use with it will either give you full access to iPod/iphone or MP3s etc on a USB device. Its really good too :)

I'm sure NHN will be along again soon to offer his installation/supply services :)

Hardware upgrade & requires rns-e mk2 as a prerequisite.

We supply/fit the ami system, location dependent of course.

Hey no point paying for the privilege if you're not going to use it lol.

Lets not get ahead of ourselves, I'll settle for work everyday :)

NHN, would you mind sending me a link to the product please? I'd like to learn everything about it and, if possible, see the product in action via YouTube.

FYI, I've got a 2007 S3 8P2 with Satilite Navigation Plus and iPod dock in glovebox.

dont use it mate without the plastic bits, i have the same issue with my iphone 4 and now i have to spend 5 mins with the cable to get the thing to charge as it doesnt connect properly, i went to audi and asked them if there was an adaptor and they said no

Cheap cable from eBay + decent holder = a way I can use my 4S for sat nav, controlling music, Siri etc

Cable is barely noticeable but I've pulled it out so you can see it

Nice and tidy mate, might do that myself next month when I got my new phone, where did you get your phone cradle from, I don't really want one that clips onto the vent or windscreen, I assume that the trim just pops off to tuck the cable behind

The cradle is a Brodit - specifically made for my car and HU type and slots between panels so no drilling or permanent fixing involved. Think I got it from eBay and was around £20 for the bit that sticks to the dash and the 4S specific mount.

For the cable I do not recall removing any trim - just found a gap and worked the cable through.

Edited the above post with a better pic (on holiday today!)

That's the sort of cradle I want, I've just been looking at my car where you have the cable and I can't find a gap, you going to aitp?

Unfortunately not going to ATIP. I may have unscrewed the existing Audi holder and fed the cable down through the gap and then worked it that way. I recall it took me a little while to figure out a way. Make sure you have a long enough cable that charges and transmits audio

The base looks like the correct one. The holder looks different as I don't have the plastic bit sticking up. Maybe they've changed the design? Ill dig out where I bought it from.

Just seen you asked about cable length. Think mine is 2m and just reaches. You may want to go bigger.

ok, the holder is the only one i could see on ebay, yeh i was thinking it would need to be around 3m as i can tuck any spare away
