Hi folks.
As a mad gamer, I thought I'd start a thread on some new games coming out and see what's exciting you(game wise that is)
Next Friday sees the release of Dead Space 3 which I'm stoked about. If your a fan of the last game you'll know why. It's a cracking
game full of gore and frights, this time you have full weapon optimizing, build your own death dealer. Sweet. I'll maybe add on to the thread next Friday with an update( if anyones interested that is)
Coming out on the 12th is Colonial Marines, which is finally being released after so many delays and put-backs. If your my age(30ish)
then you'll probably have a soft spot for the old Alien movies. Pulse rifles and Xenomorphs, what more could a man ask for. Hopefuly
the game will deliver because it does have a lot to live up too after so many delays and there hasn't really been a decent Alien game yet. Look at Alien vs Predator. Lame. So heres hoping for a good one.
Theres also some off the big guns being released this year. Gears of War, Grand Theft Auto to name a few.
Hope I'm not the only button basher on site, so please feel free to drop any recommendation, reviews or boos.
That goes for Playstation as well( I know theres one or two off you out there) Lol.

Keep on bashin'

Well, on the superior console :p (joking, I'm 37, lets let the kids do all that fanboy stuff!)

I have high hopes for Colonial Marines as well, in the 90s there were 2 good AvP PC games but nowt since then.

Grand Theft Auto V is a given, also there's Crysis 3, Tomb Raider, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance and on PS3 The Last of Us, made by Naughty Dog, the company behind the Uncharted games.

All that plus the expected next-gen announcement, potentially a good year for console gamers

Yeah, forgot about Crysis, really enjoyed the last one, again the PC version was better but the current gen of consoles just can't compete.
well the rumours of the new Xbox 720 or just Xbox as it's supposedly called is rumoured to be arriving around September time, which means it will be put back till Summer next year. Can't wait. That's another £500 down the drain, and I've not long bought the Star Wars Xbox, still can't help being a fanboy.
Happy gaming. :superman:

Likewise, the PS4 /Orbis / whatever other bone name is due to be announced Feb 20th, or maybe after the xbox, or maybe..... (rumours, rumours!) As long as Sony get rid of that pain-in-the-hoop Cell chip

Oh, and there's Bioshock Infinite as well, trailers look good but reserving judgement on the gameplay

Im a mad PC gamer. Battlefied 3 ftw! But ofc this is on xbox too :)

DeadSpace 2 was very graphic I hope 3 is the same,I am having a go at Crysis 2 at the moment and it is good but Black Ops 2 is taking centre stage as well as Fifa thrown in the mix :arco:
Alien v Predator sounds good I may have a look.

Good Thread :icon_thumright:

Iv enjoyed all the Gears of war, didn’t know Judgement was on its way, so will keep an eye out.

Yeah I'm also a big BF3 fan, loving the new map packs, new one to be released in March, which I think puts the kybosh on any BF4 release, this year anyway. Also forgot about Rainbow 6. Massive fan off the franchise so far, especially co-op and multiplayer, love the stealthy-ness(real word???) so looking forward to that bad boy as well, As I said at the start, LET THE GAMES BEGIN!!!:gun2:

Battlefield makers aren't like COD whores. I wouldn't mind a Bad Company 3 late '13 or early '14. I want the next Metal Gear Solid pronto though.

Well the new Dead Space was released yesterday, and if your a fan of the others in this episode, you shouldn't be disappointed.
Although the basic elements of the game are still there, get big guns and obliterate the un-dead etc, there has been a few fundamental changes.
Now instead of 4 weapon slots, there is only 2 but both weapons have double features(so really 4 guns after all)
The Bench and Suit selection has also been changed, with the emphasis on collecting items to craft your own weapon.
this opens up a lot of possibilites depending on how you want to play the game, so far I've been causing carnage with the Carbine/shotgun combo. Most fun!! If mauling undead creatures in space is your thing, then it's definetly worth a purchase.
Colonial Marines is out on the 12th, I'll stick a post up on here after that, let you know if it's great or gash.

Keep on Bashin :rockwoot:

Good thread, I'm also an Xbox player.

Grid 2 looks like the first big release of the year for me. I might buy Colonial Marines depending on the reviews. I only tend to buy 8/10 or better games these days so it needs to be good. No reviews with only a week to go is usually a bad sign but we will see.

FIFA and the Forza Horizon new car packs are keeping me entertained through the usual Jan/Feb lull in releases. I'm looking forward to the new consoles now and roll on Forza 5 - I'm hoping that is a day 1 game for the Xbox720.

im mega excited about the new gta, heard the world is bigger than the worlds of san andreas, liberty city and red dead combined!! now thats frigging epic, san andreas took ages to get round. also apparently you can play as three main characters, the two that you are not currently using will still go about their business in the world so theyll never be where you last left them and each character has their own unique storyline which will intertwine with each other.

colonial marines? meh, i'll let someone else buy it first and see what its like :)

i need a new game to distract me from the horror that is cod bops2!!

The only reason I'm looking forward to Colonial Marines is there never has been an Alien game thats captured the feel of the movie yet.Which is a big disappointment considering the Aliens movie was released in 1986, which is crazy by todays standard.
Nowadays there pumping out movie/game franchises even before we've seen the movie!
Maybe I'm just niave expecting a good one but stranger things have happened.
I was loving Forza Horizon until my design account got banned, no reason, just banned. Great game, shame about that.
Grand Theft is always going to be a MONSTER. although sometimes the humungous maps can be distracting from the game,
I always find myself crashing the car and just taking it out on the cops, still looking forward to it tho.
If your looking for a good sandbox type game out at the moment, you'll be hard pressed to beat FarCry 3.
Its an absoloute cracker, all the freedom Red Dead with the guns of GTA. Gave me a good 20+ hours on single player, which is amazing
these days considering game like CoD can be done in one sitting. 6hr single player, shame on you developers. We all love multiplayer but that shouldn't detract from the campaign, games like Red Dead,GTA,FarCry all understand this, and at £45/50 a pop, are we really asking to much, I think not.
If anybody comes across a cracker/stinker feel free to let us know.

Too excited about GTA! And metal gear solid? Hope it's like the old ones, those games were always miles ahead of their time.

Xbox owner here, can't play FPS at all due to a non-conforming thumb (it never does what I tell it to!!). So for me any FPS fun has to be with a keyboard and mouse (old school CS player!). Currently playing Forza Horizon and F1 2012 on the xbox, Planetside 2 and Battlefield 3 on the laptop. Unfortunately I'm struggling with the inbuilt graphics card on my laptop with PS2 so will probably need to upgrade to an Alienware, just got to work out how to explain that to the missus.

I must admit I'm out of touch with the upcoming releases so will be following this thread with interest.

so will probably need to upgrade to an Alienware said:
Get one on finance. More expensive better rig and easier to pay off. Well i think anyway.
Ive got a £3k alienware rig, paying off on finance over 3 years and have 4 months left.

Mnd you since then the GTX 590 GFX in it is probably outdone by a mile now lol

I must admit that I'm not really surprised by the scores for Colonial Marines, as I said earlier I was probably looking through rose tinted spectacles expecting it to be a good game. Looks like it'll be a rental job for that one, no way I'm spending 50 boys for a game that gets 4 out of 10. looks like we'll have to wait another 10 years for a good Alien game. :scared2:

Still on the orher hand, I can heartily recommend Dead Space 3, I've managed to clock up about 20 hours game play so far,
and I've only got about 60% through. Some of the levels are proper hard, and the side missions provide a good variety.
its not all good though, there seems to be an endless supply of lifts and doors to go through, sometimes 3 or 4 before you get anywhere important and some of the puzzles can be frustrating, but that still doesnt take away from a great game.
weapon design adds a nice touch aswell, although deciding on which death dealer to pick can take a while.

As a score I would still give it 8/9 out of 10. Defo the best game of the year so far for me (even if its only Feb)

Nice to see so many gamers on site, keep the reviews and boos coming.

Hi Folks. Back again

well I finished Dead Space 3 last week, took me 30+ hours, now thats value for money, cracking game.
Not as scary as the second part, seems they've traded in the outright scares for more gun play, still worth a go tho.

I just bought the new Crysis 3 on Friday, again I was a big fan of the second part, first impressions, the game looks really good,
high frame rate and lush back drops.
They've also added the new Hunter Bow which lets you get cloaked stealth kills, and offers a variety of arrows heads, of which my favourite is the air burst, great fun firing one into the middle of a group of bad guys and watch them eat some shrapnel.
there is some times tho when the screen seems a bit to full with information, nand can get a bit clogged up.
the voice acting is a bit ropey as well, Prophets sidekick Psycho comes out with some memorable one liners delivered in a hollywood cockney accent.
does seem good fun so far but not sure if it compares with the second part, I'll save my decision till I've finished it.

Not long now till Gears of War Judgement and the new GTA, can't wait to see if they live up to the hype.

Just bought assassins creed 3 on ebay for £18 (win win) which looks pretty decent.

Im not really a tomb raider fan but the new one looks awesome so will be getting that one likewise with GTA, Gears of war etc etc

Yeah I'm the same, never been a Tomb Raider fan, although I'm sure millions of other gamers will disagree.
maybe if someones got the new one they can stick a quick review up and help change some minds.

Hi Folks. Back again.

Just an update on some off the new games I've been playing recently..
I bought Crysis 3 last week after enjoying the last outing. As I said in an earlier post it looks good, but unfortunetly it's style over substance. I really was disappointed in the overall play of the game.
It feels quite generic, with no major changes to the last game, maybe even a bit worse.
There are sections in the game, like the driving and flying, that feels like they've just been put in to break the monotony.
Also at times there's just to much information on the screen, making it hard to move around.
i know this is just my humble opinion but that's what this thread is for, boos and reviews.

So I decided to trade it in after completion and got the new Tomb Raider,
I've never really been a TR fanboy, having only had cursory shots of the previous titles, so I wasn't sure what to expect.
So far I must say I'm quite impressed. It's a really good looking game with some nice visual effects, when dazed or hurt.
It plays really well with a not too steep learning curve, and the map seems really big from what I've seen.

There is the usual puzzles included but it doesn't really take away from the game, although there are a few that will have you screaming expletives at the screen (much to the dismay of my other half !!) the wind puzzle on Accsension was one of them.
There is also some quite brutal death scenes which suprised me, varying ways for Lara to push up daisys.
All in all so far its been a much better buy than Crysis, I'd give it a nice 9 out of 10. Definetly worth a go.

The new Gears of War is being released on the 22nd of this month, the final episode in the series.
Hopefuly it will continue with the previous games fun & frolics. I will update when its released.

A little bit off topic, but the new next gens consoles are in the process of being released, with stores already taking pre orders of the new Playstation4. I'm hoping to hold of for the new Xbox, the "Durango" or "Infinity" depending on where you read about it.
They both seem to be around the same spec but the worrying rumours that are bothering me, is the talk about the new Xbox using a watermark system, to stop people playing 2nd hand games, so no more trade ins or borrowed games.
I hope that this is not true because if it is then I'm going to have to seriously consider switching sides and going to the dark side (ps4)

Sorry for the massive post.

Was it Battlefield on PS3 that had a watermark for online play? Sure I recall one, I rented it off lovefilm and had to purchase a code.

Yeah it's a bit worrying, the way the developers are heading.
the watermark system and also the new xbox comes with built in Kinect thats rumoured to be on all the time!!!
Kinect's good for some things but for the hardcore gamer thats a bit of a no no.
The only things I'm shouting at the screen, can't be recognized by Kinect.
There is also some rumours that you will have to have an online connection at all times, maybe heading towards streaming games.
The problem with that is not everyone has good fibre optic broadband, I live in the sticks and my connection is Medievil
so not to happy about that if it turns out to be true.
Microsoft have a big announcement planned for April so hopefuly that will confirm or kill these rumours.
Heres hoping.

Hi Folks.
Back again!

just an update on what I've been playing recently.
As I said in a previous thread, TombRaider is definetly worth a bash.

Gears of War Judgement came out last week, so had to buy.
If you've played any off the previous games, you'll know what to expect, and you won't be disappointed.
The main difference on this outing is no more Marcus Feenix this time.

the game centres around Lt Baird and Pvt Cole, both stalwarts from the previous 3 outings and 2 others.
The game is broken up into four seperate sections relating to each characters story, which I thought was a nice touch.
The fighting is frenetic and brutal as you would expect, with the usual Lancer/chainsaw carnage.
Included this time are movable sentry turrets which come in handy on the regular pitched battles.
All in all a ****** good game, the multi player speaks for itself as well.
If you liked the previous games then this is a must buy. 9/10.

Just purchased on Thurs. Bioshock Infinite.
Never played any off the other games in the series, but after reading lots of reviews giving 9/10 I thought I'd give it a go.
I must admit I'm not convinced. The game looks good, with a nice old western feel to it, but I find the game a bit lax.
There just seems to be a lot off aimless wandering about and the fight sequences seem, well, just boring.
I'm sure I'll get flamed for this review, but its just my opinion, maybe I'm just jaded towards more intense action games.
I'll continue through until I finish it, but it might take a while. 6/10

GTA announced release for September. Lets see if they stick to it this time.
