On my 58 plate A4 2.0 tdi S line Avant I've noticed that the exterior door mirrors do not auto dim when being dazzled at night by lights. The interior auto dim rear view mirror works fine, or are the exterior auto dim mirrors an option. how do I check to see if I have exterior auto dim mirrors ??

You could remove the glass to see if the wires are fitted.
2 wires for heating and 2 wires for dimming. The replacement dimming glass is expensive.

Look at your option codes. If you have '6XK' then they were specced as an option from new.
Your options will be on a sticker in the cover of your owners handbook and in the boot of your car (in the wheel well I think). You can translate your option codes here

Cheers that sorts that out then 6XD code on options list, So looks like I aint got dimming door mirrors. Ah well we cant have everything can we.Thanks again all.
Given its a B8, show me a pic of the glass to be 100% sure, but for your year, if the glass doesnt have a dotted line all way round indented about 6-8mm from the edge, then its non dimming & sides are not usually fitted if a pack wasnt opted for when speccing or not an actual addition, as usually the rear view is on its own.

I cannot find the option sticker in the spare wheel well (and I've changed the battery, so I've been almost everywhere) and the service manual is a duplicate.
Can I get a copy of the option sticker somewhere?
And have you noticed how big the 95Ah battery is? Everyone lists 75Ah as suitable, and it's so much shorter!

When you fit folding and it works, will the dimming work?
I noticed mine dimmed this weekend. Nice touch and very clever. Always nice to find a new feature.
A bit weird though as 2 weeks ago I drove up the A1 for 3 hours in the dark and didn't notice.
It must of been something do with the BMW that was up me chuff the other day.
