hi all the performance figures say that the s3 225 will do 151 mph has anyone one here actually done this speed in there standard s3 or faster seems a good top speed for a small car

I've seen 146 on my clock max'd out pre remap on a private runway in my car, and 150 still going after remap, albeit, really sloooowly. 210 APY.

Mines has stage 2+ mods but hasnt been mapped yet so still standard map and i regular see 130/140 on private land and its still pulling strong.

The 151mph is possible in an S3 with a long enough straight. When mine gets to 130mph the speed really slows down, it stops pulling as hard and everything gets toasty warm, killing power.

You need a huge fmic and phenolic intake gasket spacer like me, inlets always cold no matter what haha.

a stock S3 in good health should pull to an indicated 150 on the clocks yes. a mapped one definitely should.

My old st2 ko3S a3 used to be able to pull off the clock back when it was in good health. towards the end of it's life it would reach 140 and not a fraction more.

On a private runway I have seen an indicated 161mph. Now I'm not for one saying that's accurate, just what the speedo was saying. 210 amk revo'd.

i wouldnt even try to do it in mine 145000 on the clock in fact the fastest i think i have been is 85 i must be getting old

I've had 150 out of mine while chasing a Cupra K1 up the A1.....( The private bit of course )

My mtm s3

Still had more to give,I reckon I could hit 170 on the clock, had it 165 before but got no proof lol

165 is not far of supercar speeds thats crazy

when I hit 165 it was chasing after a gsxr 600 on private road.the road has a ever so slight s bend that you don't really notice at 70 the bike backed of a little and downshifted I kept the boot in and had him top end I was just creeping away and no more

this was the result of that I blew a hole out the flexi on my down pipe below the waste gate

I've seen 160mph on the speedo which is around 150mph at a guess. That's really pushing it though and like others say, after 130 it's a bit of a struggle.

150 indicated from a st1 ko3s. Passed that happily enough but would never reach 160 indicated. 158 seemed to be the wall on that one.

In the track car I once saw the needle encroaching onto the top right of the odometer screen, showing an indicated 170mph, still on the original factory engine at 214 000 miles :)

Lol at all above , prawn +200k miles and pushing that hard.... You legend

Topped my s3 out at 138 on one of these private roads you mentioned , my ek9 type r wiped the clock past 155mph(iirc) no problem , no struggle, seemed a lot easier at higher speed than the s3. Again on one of our private roads!

I suppose the weight difference may play a part.

The max ive hitted is 120 mph.

I have never felt really comfy in the S3 more than 110 mph to be honest. I have hitted 170 mph in my C32 amg and 175 in my E46 M3.

Maybe my S3 have something wrong in suspension or wheels or tires...but it doesnt feel solid after that speed

How did your S3 felt?

mine felt planted if it wasn't for my dodgy window seals causing massive wind noise it would have been the same as 100

Not tried the S3 yet but did an indicated 150 in the old B5 A4 1.8t with stage 1 rtech map at 199bhp.

Not been much past 100 in mine, and that's rare to even get that fast. But then again I've not been on any 'private' roads, and I prefer low down torque/acceleration and a B road over top speeds all day long.

Unless youre andrew and quote gps speed your speeds are invalid. HA.
I couldnt care less about top speed. Wrc cars will do 110ish, dont think wed get bored of one of those tho.

Good luck to those of you who go out chasing speeds on roads.

Had 140mph showing on a navman when I owned my S3 I dont think the speedo was reading much higher either maybe 145mph. Only did it once to see what was possible, no need to do it again. As others have said they pull well to 120/130 and then crawl the rest of the way.

I've seen 163gps peak speed recorded on a Garmin satnav in europe. Wasn't looking at the speedo or satnav at the time, but it stored peak and average speeds over a journey.

Panicked when I heard a buzzer sound noise, that’s when I realised I had done 140mph – I had set the maximum (speed limit thingy) to 140mph. The S3 done 140mph quite easily, when I first bought my car. Now that I have Revo Stage 1, I’ve never done 140mph – got bored of high speed, just love the acceleration.

I poo'd myself at 140 once so rarely go above 100. I'd love a runway day to see what it will do though.

Andrew was talking about possibly seeing if could organise a vag or asn day at bruntingthorpe for that exact reason

I'd be up for it ;)

Where do you lot do these speeds? I struggle to get out of third with the traffic around my way!

I've had 160 out of mine as I went past a Civic Type R.. Also had close on 150 following a bentley..
