Finally got my EBay bargain A3 through it's MOT today :D

Replaced the front wishbones but it's still a bit clunky over bumps, any ideas what to change next?

I'm looking for some recommendations for a spring and shock combo, it's my daily so looking to lower about 35/40mm. Had Konis on my last car and couldn't fault them, not looking to spend that much this time though. Not looking for coilovers.

It's a 5dr 1.8t Sport.

Cheers,

Rob

I've Vogt be honest mate, I read that you dont want them, but f I wnted to lower an a3 for daily use by 35-40mm on a budget, I'd go with Jamex / jom coilovers every time.

Set at a sensible ride height, the ride remains very good indeed they're cheap as chips, and easy to fit.

The ride from my £200 Jamex back in the day was better than my £350 weitec shock n spring kit at the same ride height.

Cheers Prawn, I think I'm just a bit old fashioned, I'll have a look at some cheaper coilover options.
Any ideas what else I should look at to sort the clunky noises? ARB bushes?

Think I'll give the Jamex a go folks, look good value and will certainly be better than what's on the car just now.

Clunking could be the strut top bushes / bearings.

Replace them with the LCR ones if you do replace them.
Firms it up nicely!
