The wait is killing me!

Hi guys,

I thought I'd stick a post up, my first on here. I ordered my car a week before Xmas and still haven't got a build date:lazy:

I've gone for the following:

2.0 TDI S-line in manual
Daytona grey
Half leather / alcantara seats
Technology pack
Comfort pack
Bang & Olufsen sound system
Lighting pack
Privacy glass
S-line suspension
Deletion of model and engine technology

It will be both my first Audi and brand new car so excited is an understatement!

I've currently got a VW MK5 Golf GT Sport with the 170bhp tdi engine so I'm hoping the a3 doesn't feel too underpowered.

Anyway, enough from me. There seems to be wealth of info on here which I'm going to sift through & no doubt increase the anticipation!

Congratulations.

Golf is a lovely car in GT spec. The weight loss in the new A3 should more than compensate for the 20bhp so I doubt you'll be disappointed.

You will no doubt notice a difference in interior quality from the Mk5 to Audi. The absence of squeaks or rattles.

Good point on the weight, hadn't really considered how much lighter the car is supposed to be. The interior is what sold it to me to be honest, it's a massive step up in quality to the golf.

The only let down was lack of aluminium pedal covers but I did manage to get some included on my car.
 
Nice - that spec looks very familiar :)

I came to mine from an A3 with the 170PS engine so can offer some insight. No, it's not quite as quick, although mine's barely loosened up at only 2k miles so far, but it's still nippy enough.

Wow thats really quick! Ordered mine begining of October and its build date is week 4! Not bothered if its new plate or not as its a company car :)

Is that in the UK? I've not seen mention of a Technik or of the adjustible dampers on the new A3 yet. I'd be interested to know the pricing of the dampers in particular
 
My wife ordered on the 9th October and build date was week 49, the car will be picked up on Monday the 14th Jan. Your dealership may have missed something there!!!
 
When mine was ordered, I was told it was being held up by the B&O system - apparently without it, I was looking at mid-March.

The salesman said he'd contact me with an update mid jan so I'll give it a few days before I chase up on it.

Ceebee...was that a sportback or abroad? Black styling wasn't an option when I ordered unless it can be added now?

Is this an A4 rather than A3?
 
Got an email from my dealer today saying the order status hasn't moved at the factory so still no build week :shrug:

Anybody else ordered a 3 door s-line recently?

I ordered mine towards the end of November and its build week was originally 5 but I think it's been brought forward and couple of weeks but can't find the email.

Forgive my ignorance but when is build week 5 on the calendar?
 
I think it's the week commencing 28th of January. Whatever the build week is it would likely be at least a couple weeks after before it'll be at the dealers and ready.

I'm waiting until march for mine anyway so doesn't really matter when it arrives at the dealers. Although will make the wait that bit more difficult knowing its there!
 
Just found my emails from the dealer and it looks as if mine was an order that the dealer had already placed so that might have given me a slightly quicker lead time than I would have had for a brand new order.
 
Ah okay, thanks for the info.

I hoped the dealer group may already have had a car with similar spec being built that could've been tweaked but no such luck!

It looks like I may be in for a bit of a wait
 
So, I've got a build week...8!!! I've been told to expect delivery in late March which is far sooner than I was expecting 😃

One problem...I am very tempted to switch to glacier white
 
That gives me hope that mine may come forward. I ordered a 1.4TFSI S-line SB in November and was originally told BW17.... fingers crossed!
 
Posted on another thread earlier in the week, that my new SB Build week was seemingly listed as wk 4 during late Dec, and it was moved to wk 8 and is now showing wk7, with projected delivery mid March.

Dealer says he'll keep me informed.

up till which point can you change it?
 
after 5 months waiting, my SB (1.4 122hk stronic) was built today, now for the 4 week delivery time.... i never got how it can take 4 weeks to deliver a car...

:salute: looking forward to hearing my car has began the build process.......no idea how long it takes from start to finish before it's ready for shipping...but yeah I always wondered how the 4 weeks break down between build \ transport :detective2:

Nt wanting to wish my life away but I can't wait to get my new SB.... a few weeks yet I fear till I can go collect it :photo:

Ordered my SB end Oct, had in pencilled in for build week 8 but dealer confirmed this week that it had been confirmed for week 6 (mid Feb??). He did however say not to expect delivery til late March/ early April though as Audi haven't yet confirmed when they'll be releasing the SB into the UK. Anyone had more positive indications from the dealers??

Apparently I could still change it but it may affect the build week allocation. For that reason, and my initial decision, I've decided to stick with Daytona. Not sure when the actual cut off for being able to change is though

My dealer seems optimistic with a mid March delivery but he has not been able to confirm the UK release date...so I guess we wait and hope it is early / mid March

I am not sure how late you can change but it can be after build week is confirmed. I ordered an A5 in October and had build week 2 (2nd week Jan) confirmed early Novemeber, I then decided I wanted to change the colour and did middle of Novemeber which didn't affected the build week. I changed to Daytona, its a great colour.

It can be quicker than this as I was worried it may take 4 weeks plus, but for my A5 it will be about 3 weeks, it was built 2nd week of Jan then had a slight delay at the port in Germany but was on board 25th in UK a day later and at the dealer yesterday. Collecting tomorrow! :D

I was right to be optimisitic! Just been told my S-line SB has moved from BW17 to BW8 - delivery expected early March!

good choice to stick with the Daytona man!.. Looking forward to seeing you+car. The interior is awesome in the new A3's went looking and driving them the other weekend with my girl.

The interior is definitely what sold the a3 to me over my other options. What did you think of the drive? I've only driven a sport briefly
 
Picking my car up on Thursday:w00t:

It was built a while ago but got held up in final assembly for nearly 3 weeks. It arrived at the port in Germany last Friday so I'm pleased at how quickly I'll be in the car from that point

Lucky sod....mine's been at Emden since 14th March, still waiting to be shipped!

Which port's yours being shipped to? They've probably fast-tracked it as it was delayed at th factory.

Annoyingly the ships VAG use have been sat in either Grimsby or Emden since Thursday! They normally unload and go straight back for more cars. I was hoping to get mine before Easter, but the next ship's not due in Grimsby until Monday afternoon and there's no guarantee mines on it. As the thread says 'the wait is killing me' !!
 
Sorry to hear that...I know how frustrating it is knowing the car is ready but you can't have it yet!!

I'm not sure which port it went to. You may be right about it being fastracked - I got told on 13th March that it was still stuck in final assembly. I then got told on the 15th it was at the port & on the morning of the 16th it was on the ship.

I think it arrived in the UK on the 20th and is due at the dealers on Tuesday.

I'm sure it'll be worth the wait, your spec looks very nice

Thanks. I shouldn't moan really seeing as I only ordered it on 10th Feb! Some guys on here are having to wait until September.

What colour did you go for?
 
My A3, ordered 17 Jan is at the dealers being PDI'd - should have it in a couple of days
 
Built week 6 (6th Feb), held at factory for 3-4 weeks, posted as being at Sheerness 18th March, arrived at dealer 25th March
