B7 2.0T S-Line: Braking area tidy up plus new parts.

Firstly, the calipers on my car are now looking aweful. I realise they are the same as the S4 so to keep the prominence I've ordered some Foliatec black caliper paint. The other issue I have is the rusted caliper clip. Why oh why do car manufacturers use poor graded metal for such an important/visual area! I've seen the 'S4' caliper clips which look lovely but my car isn't an S4 so it would look stupid!
Any suggestions as a way to go with the caliper clips would be appreciated.
Secondly, the car now needs new discs and pads. I was going to go OEM but thought a few of you knowledgable people would possible point me in a better direction.

get the s4 clips and use a sticker or paint them black

funny this post came up as I was about to ask nearly the same thing. My calipers look horrid and want to paint them. where is best palce to order paint from that is suitable for painting brake calipers? I have an B7 A4 avant in dolphin grey with 19" RS6 alloys so would you guys say RED or BLACK painted calipers would look better?

Foliatec is the one. I've just ordered some from eBay £25.96 with free p+p. I have gone for black, a more subtle finish and considering the size of my calipers, the same as the S4, I feel black would be more in keeping with the rest of the car. The RS4 has black calipers and they suit the car very well.
One question I must ask is regarding removing the caliper. I will also be fitting new discs and pads so am I correct in assuming I need a 'T55' torq head to release the four fixings at the rear of it?

p.s. Preparation is key to a good job. Wuire brush the caliper down and even use wet and dry paper.

That's what I did, wheels off, cleaned the calipers, painted by brush.

Did you take the calipers off etc to sand them down before painting Jay? That's the one thing that' really putting me off painting my calipers... can't be bothered with the time/hastle involved!

I left mine on, clean with a wire brush then painted, real easy fella. Nice looking cab btw

I thought if I didn't bother to sand/clean them properly said caliper paint would just peel off... will get some and do it when the weather improves then!

While your at it, give the hubs a quick paint over too, i didn't....... sticks out like a sore thumb as they say lol

Mine are already covered by spacers... not sure if anything of the original hub is visible or not?? Thanks for the tip though, will check when I get around to doing it

nope kept them on just wirebrushed them then brake cleanered them after ready for painting.

Does anybody know the torque settings for the two 7mm allen bolts on the back of the caliper?

TBH a nice tight feel is enough as such, whack some thread lock on there aswell if you're concerned, but never overtightened one of these thus far & not checked the torque rating, never been an issue & you'd have to seriously overtighten to ****** those threads imho.

Ok new discs and pads fitted after a long day yesterday. I had problems trying to get the 2 x 21mm bolts off to enable me to change the discs. Sorted now. Phew.
While I was there I also cleaned the whole arch and then used AG Tar and Glue remover, worked a treat. I then used Wurth 'Cavity Protection Spray Wax' to protect all the rubber boots. Finally a liberal spray of Aerospace 303 was left to dwell over night.

The backs are next. Does anybody have a DIY instruction link please?
