Hello, had eibach springs fitted to the S3 the other day and I'm pretty gutted to be honest. The rear is too low, the top of the tyre is just at the arch and the rear wheels are toe-ing in slightly.

Am I right in thinking that if you want a nice all-round ride height you need to go for coil-overs?

I had eibach on my last car and the drop was spot on. The height at the front is perfect but the rear is just too low. Anybody else had similar problems? Thinking of putting standard springs back on until I research about coilovers.

Thanks for any replies.

I've just took coilovers off mine mate....And replaced with B12 kit....Bilsteins and Eibach.... I'll never put coilovers on a car again...

I also had this problem when I installed mine. The OEM rubber spring pads were disintegrated when I took them off so I threw them away and just used the pads that came with the Eibach springs. That was the problem.

I contacted Eibach and you are suppose to use the OEM spring pads in conjunction with the pads that come with the Eibach springs. I had to order new ones. They were pretty cheap. After I installed them together the car was perfectly level.

That's spot on mate, thanks for the reply. The garage did say this but there were no pads in the box with the springs??? I,ve ordered new OEM spring pads as I thought they may be worn. Do you think if I contacted Eibach they would send the pads out as there were none in the box. Do you have any pics of your car now? Thanks again

I priced these spring seats up for the rear this week infact, as I'm changing the springs. Pretty sure the upper one was 17.08 and the lower 7.39 (plus vat) retail.

I would hope they would!! They are definitely part of the kit. Who did you buy the springs from? As long as it is a reputable source they should include the Eibach pads as they are a part of the kit. If not then the pad is a perishable item so I would think that you could contact Eibach and they would sell you the pads. Sorry I don't have any current pics of my car .... that actually upsets me a little ... I really need to take some pics of my car!! :sign_pics:

This is what mine sits like bud.... Only put on 2 weeks ago and literally driven half a mile back to my horse and parked up since....

Wasn't a fan of the Eibachs when I used them... changed to Apex -30mm springs on my Bilstien B8's...

Hi mate, bought the springs from awesome who advised me you don't get anything else in the box just the springs :-S

I have the eibach s fitted to mine and it dropped the ride height by about 2 inches, nice and comfy with out being too hard for speed bumps.

Can people who have these springs take a picture of them on the car showing the upper and lower parts so we can compare?
You can easily take a picture through the wheel.
After checking car height the rear sits on the tyre, rather on just above the tyre.

I would take some pics of mine but it had a crisis today and is in the shop right now. A crap load of electrics just weren't working today. Windshield wipers, headlights, heater, turn signals all dead. I checked all the fuses ... nothing. I can take the car apart and put it back together but I can't tell you how the radio works. I hate electrons!! :keule:

My s3 is sitting on the apex springs and i used the standard rubber inserts as they were in good condition. Im pleased with the ride height. Please ignore how filthy the car is :sob: looking to change my wheels in the near future.

Adam P - do you have a picture of your rear suspension like the ones posted above? Also what top mounts are you using?

Dan - Jnr : sorry its taken me a couple of days to reply. Managed to get a picture of the springs like the ones above this morning. With regards to the top mounts i believe they are standard. Anyway hope the picture helps

Has anyone used the apex spring and shock combo? seems good for the money.

If you scroll up, me and Tuffty are both running Apex springs with Bilstein shocks, Mine has additional FK lowering caps up front, and Tuffty has adjustable rear tie bars fitted on his pics, something I need to fit on mine next.

How does the ride on the apex springs compare to the eibach's ? A previous car I had on apex was horrible, overly hard and crashy when hitting bumps, I need to change springs on my S3 due to a broken coil (again!). :faint:

Yeah they look good jojo. I'm on a bit of a budget atm, would be nice if they did a apex shock and spring kit.

Eibachs comfortable, but stance all wrong, Apex bumpy, but car handles better, still not the hardest car I've driven.

That's lovely. Almost identical to mine just a little lower.

I run Bilstein B8's with 25mm H&R springs and R32 ARB's. The ride is firm without being crashy and the car feels absolutely planted.

The Apex springs are a bit lower, and slighty harder riding than the H&Rs, based on my experience.

Comparing this picture to mine yous looks like it has inserts at the top and bottom spring seats.
Thanks for taking the time to get a picture.
I am going to purchasing some inserts for mine and see how I get on.

I've used Apex springs -admittedly on new, stock dampers- in the past (on 2 different cars) and in both instances, they compromised the ride horribly!

Cheap, nasty nonsense. IME.

Eibach Sportlines offered a good compromise of better body control and looks.

i want to lower the rear but dont want the cost of tie bars, so just looking at my options (which is not alot). KW springs are -15mm thats all i know of.

I have just had the forge rear tie bars fitted which was an extra expense I hadn't planned but the car just looked wrong without them!!!
