Extend audi warranty

Hi all,

I tried calling audi today but just missed the closing time for the customer services. Anyone know the cost of extending audi warranty on an S3 Sportback? They list prices for A3's on audi site, but not sure if that's buying the car new (probably). It would be a second hand car dealer I'm looking to buy from. Any tips and advice on it?

If the warranty is still on the car, I'd imagine audi would like to inspect it (at a cost) prior to extending?

its varys from between 1k to £1600 depending if you want to pay an excess if a claim is to be made.

Hi trups - no, I was calling audi customer services, but jeez louise! I knew it would be pricey but over 1k! I imagine there are alternative warranty companies? Car I'm looking at still has warranty, though I know my luck and thought for the investment of 20k extra warranty could be worth it?

its seems alot but for piece of mind, mine is a 08 RS6, if i didnt have the extended warranty i would not touch the car as its costly.

My mate had a 57 S3, he didnt renew for the 1600 with no ecess and then a few months out of warranty the brake servo went, cost him £1200 to repair, so its a gamble.

you could go for the cheapest and have the 250 excess, mid range would be go for the one in the middle and take the £100 excess.

I don't blame you taking the cover on an RS6! I've looked at that site, I think I stumbled upon it the other night. Anyway, typically I need to call during working hours for a pin. Yeah it is a gamble like you say, though in some respects your mate almost benefited there as the repair was still 400 less than the cover. So he'd have been paying that kind of money anyway (just maybe not in one go?! :O).

I have a 57 plate S3. When the warranty was up last April I got a letter from Audi offering another year for around £500.

Sounds a bit more reasonable. I guess there was an option to pay monthly?

Why not put some money away every month into a "car fund" and use it if heaven forbid you did need to make any repairs.

If not, at the end of the year you've saved yourself X amount.

Worth thinking about. Alternatively if something does go wrong - get a 0% credit card, then pay it off regularly. I just seem to always air on the side of caution as I'm blessed with luck of the bad variety! :O

That is also possible, just be sensible with it. I know what your saying, but why pay £500 on a warranty you may not use, or even be covered for if it is wear-and-tear item. It is totally your call, you obviously have the warranty on your side if repairs end up over £500, only you know your car, how you drive it, recent services, recent work carried out etc.

If you're buying from a main dealer (and for 20k you probably should be) the chances are they'll chuck two years in for free ...that's what I got for less outlay, plus a year road tax and two years servicing! can't hurt to ask.

But I'm not. I'll be buying from a car dealer, but not main dealer as I'm after a particular set of options (being picky and all that). :O I was goign to ask them to either include an extra year's warranty in the price or drop the price and then I *could* buy the extra warranty, or bung the money into an ISA and hope it don't go pear shaped!

Hi I don't want to put a black cloud over you joy of a new car, but as you spending 20k please go to a main agent and get all the peace of mind that comes with it.
my last s3 went into total meltdown with only a few weeks left on the Audi warranty, my local Audi dealer had it for fifteen days before they found the fault.
after that I traded in for a two month demo and got an extra years warranty added.
third party warranties are not worth the paper they are wrote on.

I've just brought a used S3 from a main dealer, I. Could of got it a bit cheaper from alternative dealers but for piece of mind, I decided not to.

Audi gave me 12 months free warranty. I doubt any other non Audi dealer would of done the same

Thanks, and I'm hearing what you're saying. Though i'm after a specific set of options (colour, spec etc), so they come up rare. The garage deal with very high end cars and from my research seem to have a good profile, but that doesn't give the full reasurrance when it comes down to black and white on paper. I think the best option is to see the car, then see if I can knock some money off the price which could go towards extending the warranty. Or do the saving up some money in a car fund idea / bit of both.

It's still within warranty at the moment, I'll find out how much when I see it.

If its still got Audi warranty you can extend with Audi, but you must do it before the original warranty runs out.
they will usually write and offer you this but remember to register with Audi you are the new owner, you need to do this for Audi assist.

Exactly, the cheaper rewewal afaik, is only offered when its still in audi warranty, if its when no warranty, then its a vast bit more iirc.

I had a read of whats included and excluded on an extended warranty.

Definitely not DMF clutch, and and de-carbonisation of engine.

Thats ****** useless for an S3 or TFSI engine !!!
