Hello,

Ive recently purchased an A3 2.0tdi S-line, it came with an RNS-E fitted from an S3 (says audi s3 on screen when turned on) anyway firstly im looking to install an AUX IN line so I can play music from my iPod. Secondly the RNS-E makes some weird noises sort of like hissing and vibrating, sometimes it only quiet, sometimes quite loud. Ive read to check the connection on the back but I dont have any release keys, and others have said to make sure the headunit is coded correctly and the wiring has been changed to suit the bose speakers, also the drivers side front speaker has just gone off too. Im wondering if there is anyone located near Hartlepool (North East) who could possibly have a look for me? Im also willing to travel to you depending on distance.

Thanks,
Andrew

Be good if you posted back to advise others of what was done to fix etc, apart from someone fixed it for you.

My Apologies.

Firstly, Jonny installed an OEM Aux-In point into my car underneath the handbreak, whilst the RNS-E unit was released we soon realised I had a faulty loom as if the loom was pushed/wiggled about my drivers side speaker would intermittently come on and off which was one of the problems I was having, but we couldn't get the speaker to permanently stay on so looks like its time for a new loom (or is it, ill explain later on) anyway Aux-In fitted and RNS-E back in place, found out the RNS-E had never been coded, so Jonny coded it up and bingo no more hissing/vibrating noise, perfect!

A few days later before ordering a new loom some RNS-E release keys were delivered to me (I'd previously ordered them before speaking to Jonny) so I thought I'd had a go at repairing the loom, whipped out the head unit, detached the loom and all wires, gave everything a good clean and put back into place, bingo drivers side speaker now works perfectly and so far hasn't gone off (touch wood) Lastly I was having a problem with my speedo, when the electric were turned on the speed dial would drop below 0 asif it was pointing to -10mph if that makes sense? Anyway quite an easy fix, turn ignition and electrics off, pull the dial out half way, rotate counter clock wise round to 0 and push the dial back in and then turn ignition on and now the dial doesnt drop anymore :)

Anyone had any similar problems don't hesitate to ask and ill try my best to help.

Thanks,
Andy
