Being a supporter of Newcastle Utd since i was a toddler ( I have even appeared the the mediocre film 'Goal' lol ) i have seen all the ups and downs there and believe me, there have been alot!

I was just wondering what other peoples thoughts were on the club and their recent influx of French players and their current form?

P.S Not an excuse for Mackems to start with the grief  haha.

Gone are the days of local players. It doesn't really matter where the players are from as long as they do well and don't have 'le strop' and wander off.

Although I'm from South Shields so I can't have an opinion on either Sunderland or Newcastle :)

To be fair thats the same case for most Premiership clubs which is a shame.

Main reason why England are not up to scratch in my opinion.

I just hope the latest players that have been and will be signed make a difference because i really dont want to see them relegated!!

True, true. But, English players obviously don't want it as much or they'd be the first team for both club and country. Shearer is the best example of that.

There's no passion left in the game, but Sports Direct will continue to sell tat so at least someone is laughing.

I dont think its that i just dont think they'd be given a chance. All/most of the players that come from overseas play in top flight. Although the standard is different in each country, english Championship level players etc could be just as good or better than the foreign players but never get the chance because not many managers sign players from lower leagues.

I think if some of them were given a chance to play in the top flight they would/could do alot better than an already established foreign player from a top flight league (if you know what i mean)

Look at Bradford 7k in localish players, yes thats 7k worth for the whole team!! beaten teams with 170 millions worth, now in the final !

Go to the lower tiers off the game and there is plenty of passion ..until you hit the prima-donners of the premier league...Then they are more interested how their hair looks and get the latest tattoo on show...

I think you should do better than you are considering the size of the club. I think you were lucky to sell Caroll for so much, but unlucky that you had to let Ba go.

I think your manager negotiated a great deal, but it doesn't make him safe.

I think you are going to need all your skills to make a chant for your new signing, Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa.

I support Watford FC, we were recently rescued by the Pozzo family, who own Udinese, and they have bought in lots of players on loan and we are currently 6th in the Championship. So foreign players do work.

Disgrace..... 4 more foreign players, need to bring back a version of the three foreigner rule or at least 6 players on the field of play should be British.

Pardew will fail and Newcastle will be left with the hefty wage bill to pay..... Selling Andy Carroll was pathetic

I really do hope Newcastle and Sunderland avoid the relegation drop, mainly because its at least 2 points for Newcastle ( Aimed at jdp 1962 :lmfao:)

I agree with the rule about how many foreign players in one side.

I'm not racist by any stretch of the imagination but English football is just not English anymore!

Looks like the French Revolution is working!

NUFC 3-2 Chelski hehe :o.k:

You're right it's working for the French...... What about the Northeast born n bred  wonder if these French players bank their hard earned £notes here........ Not unique to Newcastle and good luck to you're team but what about our homegrown players chances.......
England vs Brazil Wednesday night....... Club Football and International Football are to very different games nowadays, but when the likes of Arsenal field an entire foreign team for an English F.A cup final you've got to say enough is enough........

Gone are the times where a reputable team has a full team of British players!

Very true..... Wouldn't mind the nucleus of the team being British based; remember the original three foreigner rule in the original champions league format. I'd settle for a minimum of six outfield British players, the remaining five can be foreign....... Can't happen due to freedom of trade and European Union rules...... so looks like we're stuck with it.

I totally agree, and this would help on the national front too. It would be so good to see a brace of england players of the standard of ronaldinho and the like through the whole of the premier league.

Selling Andy Carroll was pathetic

Selling Andy Carroll for 35m has to go down as the best bit of business Newcastle ever done next to Liverpool selling Torres for 50m. Using the 35m to bring in good players on the other hand Is questionable.

Thats would be good to see but it seems Newcastle, like other teams prefer to give younger players from other countries the chance rather than our own.

I think selling him was good business, not because he was a bad player but just because i think he would of lost his shine at Newcastle and then lost his value.

I just hope Newcastle dont get complacent again like they did at the end of last season and not strengthen the squad or give it any depth.

Sold Andy Cole to Man Utd and then went on to win....... :o.k:People want trophies.......

It is unfortunate that any Premiership team has to rely on the overseas football market for players but you have to say Wilfred Zaha is becoming all to classic an example. £18M for someone who has no Premiership experience, is an excellent talent no doubt and loaned back to his current club to get more experience. That said the big 4/5 Premiership clubs are the makers of their own misfortune in the overinflated values they have paid and are paying.

So for the cost of Wilfred Zaha, the Toon have bought 4 players of which 3 are French Internationals, I know where my money would have gone. It would be nice to do both but NUFC don't have the funds to do that. As for how NUFC will do, they'll stay up if they win against Southampton next as it will give them momentum but they need more reinforcements in the summer from wherever given Simpson will go, Guttierez is starting to struggle, Collo will be gone, Shola isn't up to it and Cisse needs a shrink to work out where his form his gone. 3 points and 3 of the 4 teams above us to lose it is mid-table, it is that close at present.

As much as Pardew has the contract, it shows to an extent the ambition of the club based on its business model in that we will always be happy finishing 4-6th and never challenge for the title because he is not up to that task. And to a certain extent I agree as I would rather the club works as a business in the black from its own revenue streams and is good entertainment to watch rather than title winners with 100's of millions in debt and administration looming around the corner like in the days of Shepherd. Just wish Ashley and his mouthpiece Lambarse would work on their PR.

Yup, hopefully Newcastle get the momentum now they beat Southampton.

Think the French revolution is working a treat. When Ben Arfa is back the team with be so much stronger.

Think the defence needs to be strengthened because like you say Collo will be going soon and Mbiwa hasnt been given enough game time.

We shall see, hopefully Newcastle start moving back up the table (Preferably above LFC and SAFC)

Newcastle fans..... before the infamous game with Wigan causing trouble locally, disrupting amateur matches,
ripping up nets and invading pitches...... they done this in Wigan because if they tried it in Manchester they'd get their
@rses handed to them........

some of the kids games involved were U10's, pretty shameful.........

I agree entirely that their behaviour was shameful, but they weren't behaving like that because they were Newcastle fans. They were behaving like that because they are a bunch of ar$eholes. All clubs have ar$eholes amongst their fans.

Yep all clubs have them,I remember Toon Army visited my club and they were okay, apart from peeing in the gutter on a main road with all to see
