I found pirelli's a bit noisy at speed,, bridg potenza were quieter, but lacked the wet weather grip of the pirellis, which was scarily good.

I have ended up going for some Falken ZE912's should be here in a few days then see how they compare to the Pirelli P Zero currently on the car. Though a new tyre against 2mm isn't really a fair test. I did look at Michelin Pilot Sport 3's but couldn't justify the extra cost.
Ian-83 how have you found the Falken ZE912's ?
I'm currently looking at Wheel and tyre packages, the above tyres are cheaper than the vreds but i still get drawn to them !!

I am finding them a good tyre. When I had them fitted was when it seemed to rain every day and they did well in the wet with no signs of vagueness under breaking. In the dry they have been great road noise seems about the same as the Pirelli P Zero I had fitted before. Seem to be wearing well too only done about 600 miles on them so far though.
That's good. I had the 512 Falken's before and they were horrible in the wet. I'm looking at new tyres now, looking at Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta tyres, but might consider the Falken's.
Fitted falken 912's about 6 weeks ago - best tyres I've ever bought tbh, good in wet and dry - reasonable price -
I Previously had a mix of 2 Goodyear f1 on rear and 912 on front.

Interesting, Camskill have Rosso's at £137.90 inc.VAT at the mo, So with for a set with delivery I'm looking at £560 delivered, and a bung to the local tyre fitter to put them on.

Totally agree with your choice James I've had my P Zero's on for 3 months now and are an excellent tyre especially as I only paid £100 for the pair for mine,also the rim protectors are essential when the wife uses the car.
I've had two sets of Falken ZE912s on two different A4s. Currently running a set of 235/40x18s on a B7 3.0TDi Quattro. I love 'em. Good grip, good steering response, smooth-riding and quiet.
I've now done 22,500 miles on mine...Still very very quiet, grippy and excellent steering and stopping. I'll buy those again when it finally is required...

I found the falkens good but wore to quickly on my previous impreza. Bought a set of vredestien ultrac sessantras for the Audi a couple of weeks ago. Well impressed in wet and dry. £112.50 each delivered and fitted full set for £40 including valves and balance. Guy at the tyre fitters said they were highly regarded in the industry and said that was a very good price.
Ok. A week into a full fresh set of Pirelli p zero Rosso. Extra load, 95Y.
The set was £643 inc vat through Broadway tyres., which i know is more than I could have got them from but I work in the motor industry, and We have a tyre fitter on site, who has nothing but bad news stories about camskil, black circles and the like. At least I know the tyres have been fitted propperly, and they are not old stock.
Now the fronts of the old ones were on the wear markers and the rears had been over inflated so the middle were on 1.6 mm and the edges on 2mm.
The difference is night and day. Even though I've replaced the tyres like for like, the road noise is reduced, no more grabbing on full lock, and the car seems taller.
All said, I am pleased as punch with the fresh set.

Ok, got to say sorry for dragging up an old thread... But i fitted new tyres as mentioned in this thread around the same time as James & Ashihara
6 months gone and the rears are gone and fronts on 3mm

Looking to get a new set, just not sure if i am going with the Falkens 452's again or the 912's or something else
Grip on the 452's was great, but i am a little concerned as to how quickly they wore

I agree... I am shocked at how quick they have gone. I do kick out a few miles, but not that many to warrent them going so soon (so i think)
A few people have mentioned they wear quickly, wish i had made note of the milage on the car when i put them on

After 7000k miles my Vredestein have like 6,5mm thread!
At the moment i changed the wheels and i brought Barum Bravuris 2 which looks like new after 1000miles and they are good tyres(at least with quattro

). I've done about 22K miles on mine, still have more than 5mm at the rear...Had to change the front before christmas but only due to a puncture repaired once and then again went...I think they had still 4mm left on them...And still very grippy...So I replaced them for another set of Pirelli's...

Agree partly, my initial post was in responce to a specific manufacturer that James was looking at and was recomended by others
Things such as wear/noise/feel/grip were the main issues as well as price (which will differ on size) and i am now only posting to find out how peoples choice has worked out as manufacturer specific.
Hopefully my posts are not only helpful to my own choice but others too

I'm a huge Falken fan, especially their new 453's, for the money I personally don't think they can be beaten. The only problem is the wear rate as mentioned elsewhere but the 453's have improved on this over the 452's. The ZE914 are their 'comfort' tyre and as such gives you better longevity over the 453's. I don't run them personally but my Brother in law has them on his 300bhp 330 BMW and they're still going strong after 20k miles (well, the fronts are, but the rears need replacing soon, as he isn't exactly gentle with the accelerator!!).

I've just bought Falken ZE914's x 2 £99.20 each plus 2.99 del from camskill.
Extremely pleased with them - excellent ride (hardly different to the 16's), i'd say grip was comparable to michelin pilot sports (which are great) and good fuel efficiency rating (i do 20k+ per annum).

They even did pretty well in the snow last weekend.
They have rim protection but on 8.5" rims it's a little thin (I have Conti's on the back and they are wider and have better protection)

All four are good tyres, we already tried Dunlop Sport Maxx RT, Michelin Pilot Sport 3, ContiSportContact 5 them on track. Globally they are all good products;
- The Goodyear have good results in recent tests (2012)
- The Dunlop as well, and they made a good impression on us as a very sporty tyre
- Michelin is the oldest model but it's still a good reference
- And an article describing ContiSportContact 5
The choice is not easy, you'll have to make a decision based on your needs... Good luck
