I need some new brake pads and want to buy just the pads for a friend to fit.
I'm going for either Pagid or ATE but there seems to be a few to choose from... different sizes etc.

My car is a A3 - 2006 - 2.0 TFSI.

Anyone know the correct size etc I need??

Example.. eurocarparts have three sets of front pads:

Pagid | Euro Car Parts UK’s No.1 Car Parts Retailer

Pagid | Euro Car Parts UK’s No.1 Car Parts Retailer

Pagid | Euro Car Parts UK’s No.1 Car Parts Retailer

..and three sets of rears:

Pagid | Euro Car Parts UK’s No.1 Car Parts Retailer

Pagid | Euro Car Parts UK’s No.1 Car Parts Retailer

Pagid | Euro Car Parts UK’s No.1 Car Parts Retailer

And its the same for ATE pads too.

If you can find out what the brakes oem code is that will tell you what parts are needed you will find this in the cars
service book if you have this or on a sticker in the cars boot under the floor mats.

you will find large group of letters and numbers ie E4J 7AO 4UF 6XD 5SJ 5RU and so on.This row is from my car 58 reg 2.0tdi.

On the next line are the brake codes and mine are 1KD(REAR BRAKES) JON then 1ZE(FRONT BRAKES)

I Have a list of most of the A3 brakes code from the service manual I have

I would also advice you fit new discs as well if possable as if you fit new pads to old discs they may not bed in right but this will
depend on how worn down the discs are.

Didn't realise the brake codes were in amongst all those other codes. I'll have a look, thanks.
My discs are still ok, so will only be changing the pads for now.

Anyone got an idea of how much Audi charge to supply pads??

Don't know the supply only price but they charge £129 to fit new pads only and £259 for pads and disc's thats the same price for front and rear.Big rip off

These are all the codes used to build your car to the spec when it was first order and there is a web site, not sure of which one but it lists all the codes meanings.

Yeah I ran my codes through one of those websites a while back, didn't notice it included brakes. Will do it again tonight though.

No idea what the list prices are but see below link for genuine seat pad prices, which will be the same part numbers etc. (Audi dealer should be able to match these in theory)
Sere is usually the around the same price as TPS and supplied me my pads last time all they need is the code from your logbook as above.

Update:

Had a look at my service book and my brake codes are 1LJ (front) and 1KZ (rear).

Had to do a bit of digging on brake manufacturers websites (here PAGID & here ATE) but found that these codes correspond to "WVA numbers" 23587 (front) and 23914 (rear), which tie back to pagid and ATE pads on eurocarparts.

Decided to go for the ATE pads, the full set (front and rear) work out to £69 delivered using a 20% discount code.

So that will mean for you if you need to change your disc's in the future you will need 312mm fronts and 286mm rears and you have
FN3 spec front calipers with Cll 38HR spec rear caliper.

Sorry if you already know this info

how many miles should we normally expect from brake pads? i know it depends on driving style, but a rough average would be helpful to know.

i'm also assuming different answer for different models - i'm interested in peoples experience on an S3.

thanks
